false labor

I had 9 hours of contractions, 3 minutes apart last night. They were pretty painful and mostly in my back. I went from 1 cent to 2. I was 2 at 11pm and no change by 2am. I decided to go home. Could not get any rest at the hospital. The bed was very uncomfortable, Nurse was in and out all the time. It was a good thing I came home because my labor stopped! No contractions at all since 3:30am. I am disappointed!

It is probably for the best though because my doctor was not on call this weekend and I would have had a different doctor deliver. Also this doctor is very strict on no epidural until 4 cent. My doctor said when she induces me on Tues (if I make it that long) I can get the epidural as soon as I feel pain.

I will spend the weekend waiting!

Tuesday is coming soon! Hang in there ... and hopefully it will be better with your own doctor (and the epidural ASAP). I'll keep my fingers crossed for you ...

rachel, how agonizing! can you tell me what the contractions felt like? i have had false ones or what i think are false ones (having never done this before) for the last few nights. some are in my back, some in the front. feels like i am starting my period. but nothing regular or consistent or that increase in intensity. perhpas your water will break today. so glad you will have things happen one way or another by tuesday!

Mine were in the front but moved to my lower back by the end of the contraction. Up to this point the Braxton Hicks contractions were only in the front. They were not really strong, but strong enough I couldn't sleep through them. It was the consistency that had me thinking it was the real thing. Every three minutes. They had me walk for two hours at the hospital and the contractions did get stronger and I went from 1 cent to 2 but then after that they never increased in intensity.

I never knew what beginning labor felt like from my first child. My water broke before I ever had a contraction. When the contractions started about 10 minutes later they were already extremely intense.

This time she said the false labor could have been caused because I had a doctor's appt earlier in the day and she stripped my membranes.

Started to lose my mucus plug today. At this point I hope she waits until Tues!
