Fall down and go BOOM!

Actually. I didn't exactly say "boom!"

I was leaving work today and it had rained all day and then turned to snow about 2 hours before I left, so we had ice on top of snow. My stupid self KNEW it was going to snow and forgot my boots today, so I had on my red patent leather mary janes. I made it to the car fine, and was going to get the snow swisher out of the trunk and BOOM! I landed on all 4s! I scraped the heck out of the back of my right hand, and my left knee now has an ache and a bruise feeling spot, but no visible bruises. I iced and Aleve when I got home. I'm mad bc that knee has had 2 surgeries and has been excellent recently and I don't want to mess anything up on it again. Plus, I was going to do something of Cardio Hits tonight, but skipped the work out to rest my knee overnight. So I bunked up my workout, which is my bigger gripe. I consoled myself with a piece of fudge AND a piece of peppermint bark, which of course will proceed to stick to my butt as I sit on the couch with my leg up. But, it was tasty!

It was pretty funny, and I'm sure I looked silly in that odd moment when I knew I was going to fall, but couldn't stop it. I sure hope no one saw me.
:eek::eek: Maybe I can call in embarrassed tomorrow.

OH No, Nan! I feel your pain! I used to live in Alaska and had several months of doing the slip and slide for 5 years!!! Only hit the ground once, but it wasn't fun! Jarred my back a time or two in the catch before the fall!

Hope your knee survives with only minor bruising! Hey, everyone needs a treat when you are feeling less than graceful! Hang in there :)

Every time I've ever felt myself about to hit the ground (like rollerblading, years ago) I'm glad I had the wherewithal to twist my body so I didn't land on my knees. Even waaaay back in the day I had the knees of an NFL qb who spends way too much time in the pocket. Just thinking about smacking my entire body weight down on my knees hurts:(.

Oh no! I can totally relate! We went out to cut down our Christmas tree on Saturday and I slipped and fell right on my butt. In front of probably a dozen people. Luckily there was plenty of padding to soften my fall :(

Very sorry for your scary fall. I can fully sympathize. A couple of weeks ago I fell down the stairs in my house. Fifteen steps, on my back head first. I picked up so much speed I actually kept going around a curve in the steps. Landed sprawled at the bottom on a blue stone floor. I felt so weird about what had happened that I didn't even tell anyone till the next day. I didn't get hurt at all and ended up giggling at the sight I must have made. My son suggested I try out for the luge team. The dogs stood at the top of the stairs looking like "Are we still going out?" Hope you are feeling better and please don't feel guilty about taking a break in your workouts.
