I finely found out what Fage tastes like. UMMMMMMMM! I'm having some right now on my baked potato, with fake bacon pieces and vegies. It came to Fred n Myer in WA and I just noticed it.

This is such a great lunch.

The best thing is, I can make my own yogurt and make Fage myself by letting the liquid run out of the yogurt while in the fridge overnight. It may not taste exactly like Fage, but I bet it will come close. UMMMMMMMMMM!

Any ideas on what else to do with Fage?

Ok Janie... WTH is FAGE??? I'm glad you are excited about it, but hmmmm... I could google it, but I'm too darn lazy today! :eek:

I so miss Fred Meyers from WA!

It tastes between a sour cream, cream cheese and a yogurt, but creamier and better. You truly need to try this stuff, it is sooooooo good!

Thanks Janie... what section do you buy it in? with the milk, sour creams or cheese sections? I assume it is healthier than the aforementioned items?
 
It's greek style yogurt, and very very yummy. I like it with a bit of sugar or honey. Yum! Trader Joe's has their own version which is a bit cheaper than the Fage brand.

At Kroger I think it was with the refrigerated organic and health food stuff, but Trader joe's just has it with the other yogurt.
 
cool! will put it on the list for next grocery visit... we have TJ's here and Whole Foods too, I'm sure one of those have it! Thanks Ladies... always nice to be exposed to good healthy alternatives!
 
I found it in the organic section of the store.

Dani if you should get some, let me know how you like it.

Our Trader Joes is very far from me. Sometime when I'm in that area, I'll get some of theirs. Thanks for the info.

I have to tell you all that I have read past posts of fage with interest, but there is one huge problem. If anyone else here is a "trekkie" they will understand my dilemma. In Star Trek: Voyager humans met another race that was afflicted with a really, really awful disease called the Fage (maybe Phage). Anyway, after years of watching that program I have such a gut level reaction to that word that I can hardly bring myself to try this product that so many people love. Someday maybe, I will get over it and try Fage. Until then keep tempting me.

I'm a Star Trekkie, myself, and in Voyager, yes, there was a Fage/Phage. When I first heard about Fage, I too thought of the Voyager episode. Churned my stomach, but I got over it in a hurry once I tasted it!:)

Love it!! I wish it weren't so darned expensive!! $1.79 a carton! I buy it at Meijer here or the Oikos brand Greek style yogurt at Super Wal*mart. It's in with the other yogurts. It's soooo yummy and creamy. I like it mixed w/ 1 Tablespoon of Naturally More Peanut butter and sprinkled with Nature's Path Pumpkin Flax Granola. YUMMY!!!
 
I love greek yogurt too--and I influence my friends! One of them called and left a long message apologizing to me. She had JUST tried greek yogurt after me talking about it for years. She thought it was incredible and addictive but was worried about the fat content (and the expense). LOL Lately, I've just been draining regular yogurt in my strainer (lined with coffee filters). If you use 2 percent or regular yogurt, it tastes pretty darn close to the greek yogurt and is less expensive. Of all the greek yogurts, FAGE is definitely the best. I tried Trader Joe's brand and didn't like it very much.
 
I love Greek yogurt! I mix mine with raspberries and a drizzle of honey-yummy:) I'm also lucky to have Yugoslavian parents who make their own yogurt so I had my mom make me fat free Greek yogurt-way cheaper than store bought. If only she'd make it every week for me-sigh. She tried to teach me, but I'm too lazy.
 
Hi there-

I just discovered Fage as well.. its awesome!!! Meijer, my grocery store of choice now has it, and I'll buy it every chance I get.

The nutritionals on it are awesome and the taste is so much creamier than regular old plain Nonfat Dannon.

I'm looking forward to experimenting with it next time I get it... I've only been able to score a small single size serving of it, so I've just been eating it w/ cut up oranges and a sprinkle of grapenuts.

Maybe you'll feel better if you know it's pronounced "fay-ya." :D Then you won't think of unpleasant Trekkie stuff. (Remember the Borg?)

Anyway, I love Greek Style yogurt and eat it almost every day for breakfast. It's got a creamy, decadent texture that makes it seem like you're eating something you shouldn't! I hate regular yogurt -- I dislike its gelatinous texture!

Just make sure you check your labels because they're not all fat free, and the ones that aren't pack a load of unnecessary fat calories. The fat free is delicious and you don't lose anything in taste or texture by getting it!

I love Fage!!!! I add a little bit of honey and a little less than 1/2 scoop of Chocolate Whey Protein powder....then I stir it up and it tastes like a wonderful chocolate treat.
