Ezekiel Bread

After the recent references to this bread I wanted to find it and check it out...it took a while but I did locate it in the Natural/frozen foods section of my grocery store. Is that where most of you find it? Do you have a favorite 'flavor'?

I did have to pop a slice in the toaster immediately when I got home - I tried it smeared with peanut butter - yummy! Thanks for the tip! Anybody have any other favorite high fiber foods out there?

I really appreciate the good information I get on this forum!

For high fiber I like ground flax seed, Kashi Slimmers cereal, oat bran, 100% whole wheat bread and pita bread, lots of fruit, vegetables. Brown rice. Popcorn.

I'm not familiar with the Kashi Slimmers cereal - my latest fave is the Kashi GOLEAN Crunch which has 8g fiber and 9g protein per cup, also 190 calories so you have to watch yourself!

I also have started buying it due to the forum. I found it at a place called Trader Joes. I buy a loaf every week. The first one was cinnamon raisin for 2.39. Then last week I bought the low sodium for 2.09. I put very little butter on it and only use it for toast in the morning. That store also has a low carb bread that I wanted to try. I wonder if that will be good. I'll let you know next week. LOL

RE: Ezekiel Bread?

It is a flourless, sprouted organic grain bread. The one I got was sesame flavor, contains wheat, barley, millet, lentils, soybeans, spelt, yeast, salt, and sesame seeds. It has 80 calories per slice, 3g of fiber, 4g of complete protein (it says). It is a very grainy bread, which I like. It is very different in consistency from the regular whole wheat bread in the bread section. Although, the whole wheat bread I usually buy also has 3g of fiber per slice. This is a nice change of pace, and it is very sturdy and stands up well to a veggie burger.

Probably more than you ever wanted to know!

RE: Ezekiel Bread?

No, not too much info. Thanks for all the info. Picked up a loaf at Trader Joes. Haven't tried it yet.
