EZ Curl Barbell

Does anyone else use an EZ Curl Barbell for their weight workouts?
I'm fortunate, in that my husband has a full set of weight equipment in our workout room. He has over 500lb in various plates, a full rack of dumbells, preacher stand, etc. And in the corner he had an EZ Curl Barbell and Tricep Bar. One day I thought I would give the EZ Curl Bar a try instead of the straight barbell and I was amazed that it helped me exhibit better form for barbell curls. You can keep your elbows nicely tucked in at your sides and it seemed to take the stress off of my elbows. Plus I was able to lift heavier. Next I'm going to try the Tricep Bar when doing Cathe's Tricep work and see how it goes.

I have tried these bars in the past but never realized that they really do help with your form. Oh, I forgot to add that he also has a regular Doctor's Scale for weighing yourself. That, I don't even go near.

EZ curl bars are also better to use than straight bars for bicep work for injury-prevention reasons. Using a straight bar can put too much stress on the elbow tendon (as you discovered), because the arms are held in an unnatural position (if you stand naturally with your hands at your sides, your palms will face each other, or a bit of a forward turn, but not face full forward---and if they face backward at all, that's a sign of rounded shoulders).

I use it for bicep curls on a preachers bench & for tricep extensions (AKA skull crushers). Another benefit is you can vary the grip & hit different parts of a specific muscle.

I love the EZ curl barbell too for bicep work... its totally saved my wrists!!!

I agree that you can lift heavier using it w/ bicep curls than a straight bar as well!!

Take care, Lynn M.

Looks like I might have to invest in one of these. I use a straight bar for curls and my wrists hurt a lot. Sometimes my biceps can keep going but lower arms cannot. Never thought it might be the bar just thought I was wimping out!!! Thanks!!! Teresa

I think the EZ bar is great, especially for people like me with a large carrying angle of the arm. I really hate doing bicep work with a straight bar but it's all I have right now. Does anyone know how much they run?

I was starting to have some wrist issues and now that I'm using the EZ Curl Bar it is helping to alleviate some of the stress when lifting heavier. Also, contributing to my wrist problem is sometimes when performing Dumbell Bench Press w/ heavier weight, I sometimes catch myself w/ a break in my wrist, instead of keeping a straight line.
