Experiences with prednisone?

I'm ignoring the energy. Actually, I'm using it to catch up on my email. Not exactly exerting myself, but webmd.com says that although you should rest with strep, you don't have to stay in bed. Thanks for the information and good wishes, everyone. I fully admit to being a huge baby when I'm sick! x(

Actually, going to the ER last night made me put my petty problem into perspective. Sure, I'm sick and it's aggravating and annoying, but it's not life-threatening like some of the things I saw in the ER last night.

Bunbun,

Hope you're feeling better soon.

My only experience with any steroid was when the boys for various reasons have had to take it briefly. It made each of them as mean as hornets and eat everything in sight - could not feed them enough food.:)

Take care and rest.

Thanks, Melody. How old were your boys? I wonder if it affects kids differently? I was worried about the mean thing--they gave my mom steroids when she was on chemo, and it made her fly into rages. Awful. But everyone I've talked to (here and two doctors that I know) says that 20 mg just won't do that. So fingers crossed.

Bunbun,

I think you're safe from the rage and hunger frenzy.:) I really believe that due to children's small stature and high metabolism it affects them rather extremely. They were preschool age, like 3, 4 & 5, at the time and it was worse than dealing with me when I'm all hormonal.:+

The moonface and puffiness subsided after tapering the dosage. After seeing what steroids can do under a doctor's supervision and with proper dosage it boggles my mind that any sane person would dabble in any steroidal drug without medical indication but that's another thread:)

Take Care
Laurie

Agreed, Laurie. It's really shortsighted and crazy to use them for anything other than a real medical necessity.
