exercise level maintenance

To maintain my current exercise level can I do the same amount of time, but switch up the type of exercise and intensity level; or do I have to devote more time no matter what? I'm 40 years old and have been exercising for 15 years.

Thank you for your advice/thoughts/opinions.
 
I would say yes to the first. That's what keeps your body on it's "feet" and guessing :)
