Exercise in the MORNING - How do you do it?

A woman after my own heart! AHHH!! No Nancy, you're right. It is not acceptable to ever give up sleep unless it's an emergency.

I do not give up sleep for exercise, I just make sure I get to bed by 9-9:30, sometimes 10:00.

My routine is:

- Alarm goes off at 5:00
- I lay in bed until 5:15
- I get up and start brewing my really strong coffee (I only drink 1 cup)
- My youngest dog, Sophie, gets up with me. I open the door to let her out.
- While the coffee is brewing, I rinse the dogs water bowls and refill them with fresh water
- I fix my coffee and sit down while I drink it
- I grab my water out of the refrigerator

By that time, I'm ready. It may be the caffeine but whatever it is, this is what works for me. I eat my oatmeal and protein powder when I get to work.

There are three main reasons I work out in the morning:

1. In Florida, it's coolest in the morning.
2. I know I have a very important thing accomplished first thing.
3. House is quiet...I like that.

Another thing...I don't give myself a choice of whether or not to exercise in the morning, just like I don't give myself a choice of whether I'm going to brush my teeth or not. I just do it.

Candi-
Good for you! Sounds like you're getting plenty of sleep and getting your exercise too. I'm usually eating dinner at 9 pm, and I try, but usually fail, to get to sleep by 11. :(

Nancy,

With your work schedule, getting to bed eary enough would be extremely difficult. Getting home from work at 8:00...that's late!

I get home by 6:00, usually. I unwind by walking my dogs. After dinner, I read while I take a hot bath. By the time 9:00 comes around, I'm totally relaxed and ready for bed!

I don't mind, Candi. I'm content working out when I get home from work, right before dinner. :) Someday when I'm retired or semi-retired though, my dream would be to workout right smack in the early afternoon! That's when my energy level is highest.
