Ewww! Millionaire Matchmaker

Why oh why didn't I change the channel??? Now I need my brain washed out with soap. I watched an entire hour of Millionaire Matchmaker or whatever it's called. Please tell me the world is not made up of guys of every possible age wanting to date twenty-somethings and women who want to marry money. I know it's my own fault, so I have no right to complain. My only (lame) excuse is that I needed an escape and Law & Order was all repeats and the book I'm reading is called "Anti-Cancer: A New Way Of Life" sent to me by my mother who made me promise I would read it.

I know what you mean Nancy! Those people are awful, and Patty is so mean too. I've watched it a few times and I also felt dirty afterward. I do think it's funny that these terrible men pay huge amounts of money to a woman who just abuses them!

Thanks for commiserating, Amy. I feel like that awful show is permanently etched into my brain now, like a Lina Wertmuller movie you spend decades trying to forget. I'm going to need to watch about a dozen Hugh Grant movies to go back to feeling good about the world. I know I overreacted, but I found it disturbing.

Patty can be mean but she's right a lot. Her entire office is loaded with people who hate those AGEist guys. On one segment last season where, as usual, the old coot wanted a 20-something she set him up with a very young wack-job. It was hysterical. She was trying to make a point. Last night, I caught one where that idiot hard-to-please 48-year old guy (who keeps coming back, evidently milking his 15 minutes for all it's worth) stood behind a 2-way with another millionaire and got to hear what those young girls think about dating old guys. It served him right.

As a single 47 year old woman those idiots really piss me off. It's like they think because they got a little money they can demand a young thing come to them and heel, like a dog on command. Yet, when they take the camera out on dates it quickly becomes obvious why they're still single - and it's not because they've been busy building their business. Sometimes, I think having money makes people delusional (Think $1,500 trash cans... Sorry. I'm still mad about that).

I think Matchmaker Millionaire is hillarious. I think Patty treats the men as they truly deserve.

These millionaires need to grow up, date women their own age, and, more importantly respect women!

Nancy, you should have popped in a Cathe DVD!

I had already done my workout for the day, and as much as I love Cathe, she's not my idea of escapist entertainment. In any event, I was too tired to even get up and find the remote! Talk about lazy! :p But I sure did learn my lesson.

I guess these guys are all about status, which for them means having tons of money and women younger than their daughters. I suppose their need to overcompensate for their feelings of inadequacy is more compelling for them than their desire for real happiness.
