Estoven, Menopause & Balance....

Hi,

I’m 48 years old, yep! menopausal for 2 years now, and I've never taken anything. My first year I use to get hot flashes so bad, man oh man I can’t even tell ya. I asked God, What is this!! I didn’t know what was going on with me until my sister in law told me what I was going through. I’d breakout all times of the day all night long, even in the winter, window open window closed up & down, it was bad and It was so embarrassing.

Now, a year later I don’t get them nearly as bad, but I do still get them. So I figured I need to get something that's natural.

I recently purchased a box Estroven (first time users) at Walgreens. It is suppose to be all natural. Thus far I have only taken one, this was a few weeks ago. What, I did I notice later that day that I had a lot of energy and felt very clam, something was definitely different. I felted really mellow or something. I haven’t taken one since. So, today I am going to recommit to taking them. Because, ladies, I’m getting married February 14, 2006 ;o) and girls you know I don’t want to be sweating/flashing that day or even my honeymoon ;o) ;o) So, please share your experiences and what has helped you get through this thing.

Is this true, without your body's own ability to produce estrogen, you can possibly age faster? Thank you for any advice on this matter, okay back to work.

Teddygirl,

First of all you are lucky this stuff didn't start til you were 48. Just wanted to mention that. Have you noticed lack of sleep also?

Secondly, Estroven will work for some people but you have to take it regularly, not just once in awhile. There's nothing in it that should be detrimental to your health. I have friends who swear by it.

This stuff did nothing for me so I am now on a low dose BC pill which regulates me very well.

P.S. You probably should pay your gyno a visit :)

Thank you Candi,

I guess I’ve been blessed, when there’s people who has gone through what I’ve at a much younger age. And to answer your question. My first year, NO SLEEP at all. Now, I sleep like a baby. And, yes I am in the process of visiting my Dr soon. My concern and I mean my concern is lack of this stuff called ESTROGEN, I’m frighten to death about this, the body does weird things without.

Okay, I just took an Estroven pill at 10:45am and I feel good. It is suppose to help with the flashes and give a woman hormonal balance. And, right this second I feel balanced. I think that’s the word I was looking for balance rather than feeling good. On the box they claim most people will feel relief from the hot flashes and sweats within 7/10 days. I shall see.

I may even ask the Dr about putting me on BC so that I can get Estrogen. My girlfriend who’s 49 still get her period, and she’s taking BC pills. Just the other day the her Dr. told her if she was to stop taking them she wouldn’t have a period He feels that she is in full bloom menopause. She has night sweat/hot flashes really bad.

Another concern of mines, is without the body's ability to produce Estrogen....thining of the virginal walls, the dryness of the virginal, so on and so on. Dam, one’d think after having a period for x amount of years, it’d be smooth sailing without it huh! but not so.

Teddygirl,

I did experience the vaginal dryness but the BC pill helps with that also. I am also applying a bit of testosterone via a doctor's prescription for libido and because my energy levels were down. This has also helped with the vaginal dryness.

There are many books available on the subject. You may want to see if you can get your hands on one. My favorite is, "The Power of PeriMenopause" by Stephanie DeGraff-Bender. It's an easy read and she explains thoroughly what is happening to your body's estrogen levels during peri-menopause and post-menopause.

Thank you again,

Didn't mean virginal. I did a spell check on me computer, and what do you know eh! Typing while the boss is here. Anywho, thanks again.

I was planning a trip to the Library anyway for more information on this matter, I’ll look for her book.

I've been "flashing" for almost 5 years now. My suggestion is that you do some serious investigation into estrogen before you consider supplementing it. The increased risk of heart disease and/or cancer can be much worse that the usual symptoms.
