Cathlete
So, a zillion thanks to my Physical Therapist for helping me to re-learn how to workout with proper form. After about a month of PT 2x/week as well as stretching, exercises and continuing to exercise with modifications- both major and minor, I am soooo proud to say that for the first time in probably four years I am walking without a limp!!!!!!:D:D:D

I am retraining my muscles/muscle memory to be more aligned and realize that I don't need to workout to the point of extreme pain in order to get gains and lose weight. It's such a total change including my mindset that workouts don't have to hurt to be effective. I'm really concentration and paying attetion to my form and listening to my body loud and clear. Even with these modifcations, I have still lost three more lbs!! I'm about 20lbs from my goal weight!! :D:D

Walking, working out, sitting, sleeping were all so painful due to the immobility of my hip due to arththritis and my arrogance by "pushing past the pain" (never went past it!). Now I can do all of them with almost no pain!!

I just had to share this enormous blessing with you great group of Cathletes!

A good physical therapist makes all the difference!! Mine is incredible - and cruel :) I feel your hard work and glad it's pd. off for you. I'm looking at PT assistant school just because I'm so impressed with what they know and how pro-active it is! Congrats!

I just decided to quite seeing my physical therapist :\. I found a GREAT chiropractor who helped me more in one visit than the PT did in two weeks. As a matter of fact, those two weeks with her made me WORSE. After seeing the chiro 3 times, I went back to the PT, because I thought the combination of the two would be valuable. Nope. I was in pain my entire weekend and she undid everything the chiro did.

I'm so glad something worked for you!! I've been in pain for years, on and off, and it has kept me from really being fit for a long time. Hopefully I found the help I needed!

I'm curious, though, what did you guys do during therapy? My sessions seemed kind of useless.

Thank you all sooo much! FidgetQueen, my PT does mostly mobility work on my hip when I'm at her office, she changes up my at-home exercises each week. She spends about 45 minutes helping my hip to loosen up but gently and sometimes not so gently:p stretching and turning my hip in a variety of directions. My exercises have progressed to deeper stretching and I feel wonderful!! I hope you find an awesome PT. I asked my doctor and neighbors for recommendations and this gal game VERY highly recommended as did all the PT's in their office, but my doc specifically mentioned Dana and he was right.

Awwww, thank you, Cathe!! I'm just glad to be able to continue working out with you!! I gave my PT the Terminator DVD so she could get a good idea of the mix of workouts you've produced and offer up any modifications.

Happy Tuesday!

Pam
