Energy Gel packs?

Has anyone used these?

I'm a morning workout person and have been for years. But for the last month or so, I've really been struggling to move in the morning, and dragging through my workouts.
I'm thinking that I need to eat something for energy, but I cramp terribly if I have anything in my stomach prior to working out.

I also don't have the option of getting up earlier to let food settle before I workout (I get up at 4:30am already).

I'm wondering if anyone has used the gel packs, and are they helpful?
Thanks!

I use energy gels for long distance, endurance events, but I have a friend that pops a gel in the morning before her work out and swears by it. I tried it once, but only used a half packet. I also get ill in the morning if I eat before my workout but this seemed to give me the energy without making me sick. You can also try some light natural carbs like raisins, peanut butter, etc. (though that may be too heavy for you). I'd say to experiment with it and if it works, go with it!

Hi-

I use these when I am training for long endurance events, but have also used them when I know I have to get up really early and do an intense cardio workout.

Ideally, eating something is best, as that you are getting some "real" nutrition. ( Do you eat bananas? They are great quick sources for energy. However, I know how it is to try and eat that early (middle of the night ?!) so realistically they could be a good option for you. They do give you a boost, and might be what you need.

Make sure you experiment with them though.. some of them might not agree with your body chemistry, and you could get cramping/upset tummy.. I have a couple certain ones that I like: Power Gel and Gu Gels. I have had bad luck w/ Carb Boom. But, everybody is different, you might not have an issue.

Good luck! Lynn M.
