I saw this on cuteoverload.com a few weeks ago. It's pretty amazing. Apparently the elephants do have some training from people, but it's still clear that these really are some artistes! You can buy the paintings to support conservation programs for the animals' habitats.

And I agree Carolyn, it is amazing how this shows that elephants are extremely intelligent and self-aware. And super cute! And artistic! Now I wish I was an elephant!

I really like his style as well!

(I tried to my bobtail calico cat, Bobsie, to make art once by dipping her tail in a bit of food coloring and then having her wag it on a piece of paper, but she refused to comply. I was hoping to have another bread winner in the house!).

My father used to work with the elephants in the Barnum and Bailey circus around the time of the depression. He also collected elephant statues. He would have loved to see this!

What I love is that if you "snopes" this, it's true! Elephants are a symbol of luck and prosperity in India. We have a lot of elephant statues around the house because DH is Indian.

Have you read Water for Elephants? If not, it may be interesting for you because of your father. My whole Bookclub enjoyed it . . . even those that were afraid to read it for the animal issues. The book is inspired by true stories.
