"Economic Stimulus Package"....I'm mad!

I just got "Economic Stimulus Payment Notice", letting me know what "officially" President Bush has signed into law.

Unfortunately, since I just went back to work PT this past September at the schools, I don't even MEET the MINIMUM income and for some reason, it's REALLY ticking me off! A widow, 2 young kids, finally getting back on my feet by working PT at a school. And I don't QUALIFY!!!

(minimum income is $3,000 and I made less than that because I work PT)

I'm TICKED! (but trying to be nice about it)

That STINKS!!! Food for thought...do you have any interest income, insurance income, etc to add to your job income? Maybe talk with a tax preparer or accountant? There has to be a way around this in your situation! Have you looked at this to confirm your thoughts? http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/

Stephanie-I actually had my taxes prepared (and e-filed) already. When I picked it all up, they HAD kind of said that they were pretty sure that I wouldn't qualify due to the income limits, so this is NOT a complete surprise. It just sux, ya know? There is no other way for me to 'squeeze' any income from anywhere. We've already checked! LOL Thanks for the input!

I just keep thinking that is ANYbody could use this 'stimulus' check, it's MY household. When I think of the groceries and clothes this could give my kids....well, it just makes me want to cry, really!

I'm very sorry it looks like it won't work for you and agree it's complete BS that you don't qualify with your situation. I suggest emailing both of PA's senators and your Congressional Representative and let them know how stupid they are to give $$$$ to Exxon and Bear Stearns and not widows with children. Be sure to give details of your personal situation. BTW, if you do qualify by some miracle, the IRS will actually recalc your taxes so you get the $$.

Don't even get me started on that stupid Economy Stimulus Package. It's not going to the people that need it (like you) and it only adds additional debt to our national deficit, making things even worse.

I second the previous posters suggestion to email your senators and congressional reps. I am not sure it will do anything to help you in your current situation but people need to speak up. It's an election year, maybe someone will listen and pick it up.

I tell you, politics, just want to rip my hair out!!!!

That really stinks. I was discusted by a classmate a few days ago, she was complaining that they were not going to get a check because her husband made more than 200k a year!!

gayle this does suck. just pisses me off that ppl who want to get ahead to right in their lives get screwed over while others just get pity and hand outs. some justice. hopefully it will work out somehow for you. i haven't gotten any notice yet. we filed early b/c its only dh,viola, and myself and its our income plus he gets a tax break on his 401K but that is about it for us.
