ebay question

Hi All-
I recently won a Cathe workout on ebay (I've purchased many there before and had reputable sellers and everything I've received so far is authentic) stating you could pay through paypal. When I went to pay it stated the seller was not set up to received payments. I informed the seller of the issue and they wanted my paypal email address to send me a money request. I told them I wasn't comfortable with this. They then asked for time to get the account set up. After this they emailed me that (their English is not well) paypal fees were too high and they were setting up their own merchant site. I am not comfortable paying any other way now. Something sounds fishy here...I asked ebay, but haven't heard back. I've asked the seller to retract my bid.

Does this sound right to anyone? Thanks for the input!

The seller is wolfdoing. Brand new to ebay...I did ask, prior to bidding if DVD was authentic and they responded it was and would send pictures. I'm just thinking something is weird here.

Hi Becky,
Have you had similar issues? How did you handle them? I'm thinking I should ask for my bid to be retracted??

Sounds a bit strange to me...What this seller is doing coupled with the fact that he/she is a "new seller" with no feedback sends definate red flags up so I don't blame you for wanting the bid retracted. If you can hold off though to see how ebay handles it, maybe you won't have to do that.

i would retract bid and contact ebay. you have to be careful of some of these sellers. they mass produced burnt copies of these dvds and sometimes you can't even tell they are a fraud until after the fact, and then there is nothing you can do to get your money back.

I would contact Ebay. I had a seller who cancelled their account as soon as the auction ended and I had paid. I am in contact with ebay to get my money back.

BEWARE! It sounds just like bloggerfan--a seller on ebay I won a Cathe DVD from--poor English and everything. The actual name I sent the check to was Kelly Liu (I believe that was it). The DVD came so horribly damaged, it did not play at all. I requested a replacement or refund and heard nothing back. I later checked bloggerfan's feedback and she/he had several negatives for bootleg copies and was suspended from Ebay. It sounds now like he/she set up a new user ID and is trying to snow you! Be careful! Even if you do get negative feedback from this user for non-payment, the chances are this user will soon be suspended again and all the feedback they left will be withdrawn. That's exactly what happened to me.

Thanks, I think maybe it's best just for me to not pay and if they leave negative feedback, I think I can reply to it with what happened. If they offer paypal and then want me to now pay a different way, that should be enough for ebay to even retract it - looks like it's in the rules (maybe under advertised wrong). Not sure how long it'll take for ebay to reply. I've ask the seller to retract my winning bid. I did notice another seller offering Cathe DVDs - their history shows they also purchased a case of empty DVD covers. Hmmmm. They may be legit, but not sure.

Perhaps we should list ebay sellers we've had luck with, I've been lucky up to this point and only received authentic ones. Is this something we can do in this forum? It may help everyone.

Thanks

Guess what!? I just received an email from ebay saying that the seller tells us you have mutually agreed not to complete the transaction (e.g. because you returned or are returning the item for a refund or because there was a misunderstanding) and has requested a credit for their eBay fees.

Does this mean I pay their fees now?

No. You don't pay the fees, but you have to agree to it and Ebay will reimburse the seller the fees. Sounds like you dodged a bullet! When I bought from bloggerfan (sounds like the same seller), she did not accept Paypal--check or money order only. It sounds like that is what she is going back to.
I have had luck with every other purchase from ebay for Cathe--I will never buy from someone with less than 100 feedback scores again and I prefer to buy used copies that people just don't want anymore. I think this person sells bad DVD's and bootlegs until they get caught and suspended--then, they just set up a new account and start again.

I am pleasantly surprised that this was resolved so quickly! Whew!! Darn, I wanted that DVD!! Time to buy it new, for sure or from someone I know on ebay!

Out of curiosity--which DVD was it? Mine was Push-Pull/Supersets. I noticed the ebay seller I had trouble with had a LOT of them for sale. I did finally get it! Other DVD's I got on ebay were Step Blast/SJP, Timesaver (which I've since resold--rather have the full versions!) and High Step Circuit. The rest I got from Collage video just because I always had good luck with them and have been buying from them for years.

All - please be careful. Check out ebay and seller I mentioned earlier (and their items) and also check out the newly listed items by wul6225 - check out their feedback and see what they purchased. The baby einstein's both sellers have..... HMMMM They do not accept paypal

Maybe they are legit, just a word of caution

If this was Rhythmic Step (same seller) I was following the auction but when I saw that it went for a whopping $36.00 for a used copy I just shook my head. You might as well pay the extra $13.00 for a band new copy from a reputable seller, namely Cathe. I find these auctions pointless unless you can get the real thing for a low price. Otherwise it is a waste of money.

Kelly Lui is the same person that I am dealing with. She was secretgarden1332 at the time. I looked up her "real" home phone number via whitepages.com since her ebay one was fake. (I used the address that I sent my payment to to find it out.) Email me if you would like it. I would rather not put someone's phone number for everyone to see.

But I did speak to her husband late last night. He said he would give her the information, but I have still not heard back from her. (It took multiple calls to get someone to answer the phone.)

Since I have her address and phone number, could we get local police involved for mail fraud/theft?

What do you ladies think?

-Becky

In her email to me, so cooperative to cancel the bid, she used "Jasmine" as her name. So I'm not sure the one I had an issue with today is the same as Kelly?

Keep us all posted, the one out there now has several Cathe DVD's out there and if you look at what they purchased in the past - a set of DVD cases! It's suspicious. Wonder if it's the same person in all these situations.

Becky,
You could let Kelly know that you plan to report her to both Cathe's people and ebay for pirating and that you know she was also suspended under the ID "Bloggerfan" and see if she decides to give you your money back...

Sometimes, you just gotta play hardball with people!:)
