early morning to late afternoon

I have always been an early morning exerciser. However, lately its been like pulling teeth and i'm thinking about switching to late afternoons instead. My question is, have any of you switched from the mornings to the evenings and like it more? i think i'm just afraid of other things getting in my way to workout but fitting it in in the morning takes the same commitment as fitting it in in the afternoon. right?

Hi there,
I used to be an early morning exerciser and yes, it was nice to get it done for the day and not have to worry about "life" getting in the way of my workouts in the late afternoon. It is much more likely for me to miss a workout now that I workout in the afternoon, but it pays off because my workouts are so much more productive. I never had the energy in the morning that I do in the afternoon (I also don't have the time constraints in the afternoon that I did in the morning so my workouts can be longer now). Good luck to you. Give it a try and see how it goes for about a month. If after that amount of time you're not liking it or find you're missing too many workouts, see if you can switch it back to early mornings. I've had great success working out in the late afternoons, but it's not for everyone.

HTH!!

I do both. I just cannot do cardio at night for a variety of reasons, mostly b/c I'm too tired after work but also b/c I feel cardio is more effective when done in the morning.

So I always do cardio in the morning & weights at night, except on weekends when I do both in the morning.

I do the exact same thing as LauraMax. I hate to lift in the AM, just cannot lift as much, and my body feels cold. I have always lifted in the evenings and have done cardio to "wake up" in the AM.

I have always worked out in the afternoons. I am a SAHM so I don't really have a problem fitting it in. When DS was small I'd w/out during nap time and now he is in school, I just have continued. I have w/out in the am a few times when I have appts. in the afternoon and I find that I just do not have the energy in the am. I say give it a try. You might like it, might not.

I am totally with LauraMax. I have to do cardio early. If I do it late, I either have too much dinner in my stomach or I am hungry (if I didn't eat yet). It's a lose-lose for me. Cardio in the AM and weights are great for me in the evening, even as late as 9 pm. My muscles, especially back, are too non-flexible in the early am (4:30) to lift heavy.

I'm a nooner! I just can't start bouncing early in the morning - I get a terrible headache if I do. My afternoon workouts are much better! I thought it would be easy to just 'skip it', but it's pretty easy once you make it a habit.

Let us know what you decided and how it's working!!
