Dying to do Boot Camp...Should I?

Hello all,

I have had a nagging shoulder injury since end of September. I am no longer in pain but still feel a touch of tenderness in the spot that is the source of pain. My upper body is mush because of course I don't want to do anything involving weights again until I am without pain for like 2 weeks. I have done the Cardio portions of LIS 4DS and HIS 4DS and the Kickbox 4DS. I am DYING to try the cardio in Boot Camp. Is there any drill I should not do that may make this injury flair up again? and...

When do you think I can actually do the weight portions of the new series? Of course with like 3 pound weights :-(

Thanks in advance

Sure, you can do BC. Like with anything else you've been doing, be careful and modify if needed. The shoulder work in the new series is tough, so you might want to pass on that or try and see if going very, very light is do-able.

Good luck! Hope your shoulder heals fully ASAP!

Do you have the Boot Camp series? If so, just review them to see what you think you can do - an modify what you think will hurt or aggravate your injury. I don't think you'll have any problem with the cardios.

I'd skip the butt kick drill with your hands on the step and lower body going side to side, takes a lot of upper body stability. You could easily substitute with say, sequential power kicks or good ol' power 15's. You're wise to mind your shoulder until it's healed. Great that you're sticking with the cardio. Have Fun!

Can you just use light weights for your upper body? That will keep you from getting mushy. I think...but hey, what do I know? I'm no physical therapist.

Hi -

I've have arthritis in my neck and A/C joint/shoulder and have modified upper body weights for the past 15 years. For shoulder work, "heavy" weights mean 5 lbs max, I do many without weights at all (or start the pyramid without weights). I also don't do overhead presses and modify with front raises. I've managed to not get mushy.

I just previewed 4DS/Bootcamp and will do it tomorrow. I can already say that I won't be doing the "fast run drop into push-ups". I might modify or might not - just depends.

I'd definately recommend seeing a PT to get starter exercises and stretches to make sure you don't re-injure.

Listen to your body and make adjustments as necessary.

Take care!

Thank you so much for your help everyone!

To be honest, when I saw this post drop like a stone on Friday I thought "well I'll go back to lurking with the occasional post". I don't post often because I am afraid of getting fired. I check in everyday during my breaks and lunch and just read. Someday they will surely block this website from me and I will be LOST!

Again, thank you all so much. I am going to take it easy. I will try boot camp 4DS but not do anything that will set me back.:)
