DVD player and premixes question

Can I just ask.... do you have to have a programmable DVD player to play the premixes that Cathe features on the new I series and the Blast Series?

Those of you who have the cheapo Apex DVD player, do you find it easy to skip to the sections of the DVD workout that you want to do or is it a pain?

Thanks for all your help and advice. I'm pathetic, I've never used a DVD player with workouts before, only with films I show to my students, and even then they have to help me......:7

No you don't need a programmable DVD player for the premixes or for skipping through sections, etc. The programmable DVD players allow you to set up your own premix so to speak. For my fitness area I just have a cheapo DVD player that also has a VHS player. If I want to program something myself, I have to lug all my fitness toys to the living room and use our multi-DVD programmable player (I don't do this!) With the cheapo model you are still able to play anything on the DVD including the premixes and skip around or restart a section as you need to or want to. Also for the DVDs that have multiple workouts like C&W and IMAX2, you can skip to different sections of either workout as you want to allowing you to mix and match to your hearts content.

Hope that makes sense and helps answer your question!

The premixes mean the workouts are pre-programmed! In other words, no! You can have the bottom of the line player and just use the premixes.

Actually, programming takes so long that I never even use it. I just use the remote and go to the main menu and choose another section. Also, multi-disc players I don't think are really necessary either. I always have to open mine to find where the next disc is that I want, which doesn't really save me any steps. I say, save your money for more DVDs and the next technology wave!

Jo and Connie:

thanks so much! You have answered all my questions perfectly and I feel relieved becuase I got this great deal on the Apex DVD player today at Sears, only $35 after mail in rebate, and I then started to panic that it wasn't programmable and I didn't know if this mattered for my needs or not. And the answer is, it doesn't!!!!

Huge relief!

And so yes, now I can save my cash to go buy myself some platemates which I have been researching and they are horribly expernsive for such small things!!! Now, with the savings on the cheapo DVD player, I can sort of justify splashing out on the platemates......sort of......! :7

Thanks again ladies

One thing Clare...make sure it has a-b repeat on the remote. I use this so much when I first get a workout (to learn the routine). If it has it, you did good..IMHO.

Sue:

thanks for the tip. I haven't even opened the box yet, after all, the BB series will be my first Dd's, but I will check this out today.

Thanks

Clare, welcome to the world of DVD workouts! You won't regret it! My DVD player that I use for my w/o's is not programable, but with the premixes and mix and match menu, I can do anything I want! Congrats and it sounds like with the new series we will have even more options! Can't wait...

Take care,
Vickie

I have the cheapo Apex. I looked and it does have the a-b repeat. I've never even used that button! I'll have to go check it out and see what it does.:+

This DVD player has been great. I have had no problems so far. I just ues the skip button, and it's real easy to do.
