Dropped the Weight -- LITERALLY

Yesterday, I was doing chest flies with 20# dbs. On my way down, I guess I lost stability on my right side and I completely lost control of the weight and it fell to the floor.

Now I have some mild soreness in my tricep.

Have I done something really bad? Or is this normal, and it will heal? I've never done with this before so I just don't know how to respond.

Katie-I'm not much help to answer your question. But I say wait a few days and see how you feel. May be just a pulled muscle/DOMS from a strange/new move. TAKE CARE of yourself!

Everytime I do chest work wtih dumbbells or skull crushers, I really worry about the db falling down on my face!

Give it a couple of days. Just thank the lord it didn't land on your foot. I did that w/a 25 lb plate a few years ago & d*mn it hurt! Last week I did it w/a 2.5 lb magnet weight & even that was pretty painful (landed right on the top of my foot).

Jeez, I guess I'm a bit of a klutz, huh? :+

Anyway, you probably strained a muscle. Let it rest & you'll probably be fine. :)
 
Katie, I always have a fear that I am going to drop those 20 lbs on my face and knock out a tooth, so I think you should be happy you dropped it where you did, when you did!;)
