Drinking Water Containers?

I have been reading a lot lately how plastic bottled water is actually bad for your body (aside from the environment). It releases toxins into the water, which you then drink. Any thoughts on that?

Where do you get your drinking water from? I read glass bottles are best, but I can't find any near me. I have a house water softener system, but don't drink from it. I get my house water from an individual well (I live in a very hot environment and the coolest the water gets is warmer than lukewarm.) For years and currently I have used the plastic water bottles and drink an average of a 24pk case every other day. In the summer, it is more.

At my old house I had a countertop system (I think it was a Britta or similar) and to be honest, I didn't drink near as much water then as I do now and it was a pain in the butt because I had to prep the water then cool the water before I would drink it. There were many times I ran out and rather than drink warm water, I just had juice or pop. It was just easier to throw a couple 24 packs of plastic bottled water in the fridge - I noticed I drank a lot more water when I did that.

I get my water from the tap. The tap water here is fine. I am also dead set against bottled water and even moreso IMPORTED bottled water. Talk about being bad for the environment and just plain silly! French water is no different than your own.

Those who live in areas where their tap water isn't the best, like my Aunt, she has an in-house filtration system. Not sure which one it is though, but I do not think it was cheap.
What's the matter with your well water? I've drank well water that was quite good. Not excellent for my laundry, but quite good to drink.

I have an in-house water softener and the water isn't bad tasting - it is just warm in the winter and hot in the summer (seriously - I can make tea just from tap water - no boiling required.). I am less likely (well, not likely) to drink it if it is warm and will grab something else to drink or grab a chilled plastic bottle. (side note - the well water frozen as ice cubes taste HORRIBLE! Not sure why. I just turned off my ice maker altogether.)

I could prep the water the night before - put tap water in the fridge - but in what? I have plastic pitchers, plastic water bottle holders, etc. I could get a glass jug, but with the amount of water I drink, I would need several jugs per day. This isn't a big deal for when I drink around the house with meals - grab a chilled glass.

However, what would I store the water in when I am on the go? The majority of the water I drink is when I am in the car, at the store, on a walk, at work, on a motorcycle trip, exercising, etc. I need a grab-and-go storage container for all of it and it seems that grab-and-go is all plastic. As an idea - I always carry 4 plastic bottles in the car with us when we go anywhere - store, movies, errands, etc. I always have a minimum of 3 plastic bottles with me when I exercise. I always have a minimum of 4 plastic bottles when we go for a dinner walk and minimum of 4 plastic bottles when we motorcycle around town (and usually stop for refills a couple of times). In the summer when it is even hotter, we have a cooler you plug into the car to keep 6 plastic bottles chilled when we are just driving around town. I am looking for transportable containers that aren't too cumbersome.

I was hoping there was a "safe" reusable plastic container?

The above numbers of plastic bottles used per day are only for me - if I added my guy's numbers in there, it would be higher.

Look for plastic without BPA. I've heard it's safe, but who knows for sure. You can buy plastic water bottles without BPA, almost anywhere. I drink quite a bit of water, so I bought quite a few from Amazon.

That's what I use. I bought 3 that hold about 30 oz of water and 3 small ones that hold about 16 oz of water. My water sucks bad where I live and a water softener does not make it better. I have a water cooler in my house (hot or cold water) and get Culligan water (5 gal bottles). I don't use the their delivery system, I just go and replace my bottles as needed. I have 12 bottles at my house. I use more in the summer because it's HOTTT here in FL. I know people don't agree with water companies but for me it's a lot better than my tap. Culligan has also changed their bottles to a better plastic and they are even lighter to pick up as well. I do sometimes buy bottles water, but that's mostly for my husband at work since he's a fireman, it's easier for him to use the smaller bottles and just recycle them at the station.

Yeah, BPA-free plastic is available and in several sizes (it still is not entirely free of a chemical process though). There are also stainless steel ones around. I have one just like this https://paderno.com/shop/500ml-stainless-steel-water-bottle-red-ringed-lid/ For at home, look for used beer growlers to put in the fridge so you don't have to drink really warm water. You can often get them for free on recycling websites or Craigslist. Or even buy some at those u-brew places.
