Drill Max

Wow, I am discouraged! I have been lifting weights and running for years and generally consider myself in very good shape. I recently developed a plantar problem that keeps me from running daily. So, I purchased this DVD and tried it today. It's a great workout but towards circuits 5 and 6 I petered out. Now I feel like I must not be as fit as I thought I was. Has anyone else had this happen?

i love this workout and it is a tough one. like you i have worked out for years and this one pushed me to my limits. its not that your not as fit as you thought you were its your body was adapted to your other owrkouts and you became very efficient doing them. your body isn't used to drill max so it was tough. if you did drill max a few times each week for a few months your body would adapt to this too and it would be easier. this is why its so important to vary workouts. good luck

Uh, yeah!! LOL, DM is a tough workout for me. I did the cardioblast premix this morning. The one that does all of the drills back to back twice. I only did half of the drills twice though. It wears me out!! Back when I was doing Cathe's November rotation this workout got a little easier to get thru the more I did it. It's just different. But that's good, right? ;)

I love Drill Max! The first time I tried it I couldn't get through it without a few breaks & I rarely take breaks during workouts. I like you also thought I was in good shape & didn't think anything could challenge me like it did. I do this workout in some fashion (as produced, cardio/leg blast, & cardio only for a short kick butt cardio) and let me tell you it gets so much "easier" & I never take breaks during it now. That being said, like kariev mentioned your body gets efficient at adapting to the workouts you do so variety is key & the more variety I add to my collection the more I'm amazed at what I thought would be an "easier" workout can feel very advanced depending on how long it's been since I've done it and of course just how my body is feeling that day.

Anyway, stick with Drill Max & check out the premixes- This is by far my favorite workout I own & I own a lot!!! }(

You're not the only one, its tough!!! I think its just the order of the exercises and the way she puts them together. It got a little easier the last time I did it. I thought it would kill me the 1st time, but I think it was more sheer stubborness that got me thru it than any actual ability:) I tried the cardio premix with all the drills 2x in a row - that one is tough. Oh my, I could hear my couch a-callin'!!! But you feel so accomplished when you finally make it!!!! I'm still pretty worn out by the last half of the 6th drill, but I know I can make it, so I just hang in there!!! I doubt you're out of shape, you just need to adjust to this workout. Like she says at the beginning, it will bring you to a whole new level of fitness (if you can make it!!) Stick with it, its a fun workout.
