Yah, I bought one as a stocking stuffer for my DH for Christmas. Lousy thing...doesn't work...atleast not that I can tell...I have heard the heartbeat many a time at the doc's office and when I use the home thingy I don't hear much of anything that I can equate to a heartbeat....x( ;(

The lady in the store said "oh everyone can hear the heartbeat using this once they hit 6 month preg.." BS! I am going to be 7 months in one week and STILL hear nothing!!! Thank goodness I got mine cheap...don't waste your money though...not worth it...

I have seen ads however for a company that rents the kind that docs use for like $25.00 per month...maybe that's an option for you if you really want to be able to listen at home...I never looked into it but it might be worth it...

Well have fun at the doc's tmrw and I know how you feel...HUMAN PIN CUSHION is the term I am using for a pregnant woman! lol

Have a great work out!

Hi Sunnydelight! My turn to answer your question :)

Yes, I had one of those home dopplers for my first pregnancy, and I concur completely with Wendymin's assessment. I could never find the heartbeat. I even brought it to my doctor's appointment and my doctor used her device to find the heartbeat first, then immediately put my device's amplifier on the exact same spot, and we heard nothing. We played around with it for a bit, but got no results. I attempted, sporadically, to find the heartbeat throughout the entire pregnancy and never once found it. So, unless they've drastically improved within the last 5 years, I wouldn't recommend that you spend the money.

I had a dream last night that I went to the doctor's and begged and pleaded to hear the heartbeat. We found it, and I have a vivid dream-memory of hearing my baby's heartbeat! It's almost as exciting as the real thing LOL! My doctor then gave me one of her devices to take home with me and use for the rest of the pregnancy. Now, wouldn't that be awesome??

Cheers,
Sandra
