Double Baby Jogger

I need some advice from you wonderful Mommies. I already own a single seater baby jogger, but I need a two seater since DD is now here and I plan to put in a lot of running time this summer. Any suggestions? I've been looking at two so far, Tike Tech Double Trouble and Schwinn Free Wheeler 2 Swivel Front-SC906. So far I am leaning towards the Schwinn because of the swivel front wheel and the easy turning radius. Are swivel front wheels safe? I mean it sure beats picking the front wheel up to make a smooth turn on the sidewalk. Please feel free to give me any brand suggestions or what to stay away from. I'm guessing about $300 or so would be a decent price to pay, but I want something really safe and comfortable for my kiddos. Thanks!

Hi Kristi! I now own a single Baby Jogger brand. I'm in the market for a double jogger. How did you like your single one? I REALLY liked the Baby Jogger brand. I"m sticking with that brand, and ordering up a double Baby Jogger. They're around $350-400.

For jogging, I think they say the swivel wheel isn't safe, so you might want to check on that feature. If you won't be jogging, though, the swivel is great for maneuvering!

We bought a Dreamer Design Ditto last year, and it's fantastic - we live in a rural area without sidewalks, so the jogger strollers are a lot more comfortable for the girls.

Here's a few links that we found in our own search. The first one is a site that sells strollers, but they also have LOTS of info and reviews that are helpful.

This link has some info about the swivel wheel and running. Check out the rest of the site (seemommyrun.com)too - it's also a great place to get in touch with other mothers who are looking for a running/walking partner.

Good luck!

Thanks Melanie and GraceNote! I appreciate the feedback. I think I will be buying the Dreamer Design Ditto RPS. The baby jogger II sounds great too, but there is not any seat size specifications. I want to make sure DS can fit comfortably in his seat. We test drove a baby jogger at Babies R Us on Friday and he was so squished he began to run over into the other seat.

My current Baby Jogger brand fits kids up to 100lbs! Could you imagine?

This is the one I'm looking at: http://runnersgear.com/page/R/PROD/BBJ-40

Do you have any info you could share on the one you're looking at? I won't be purchasing until end of next month...and I might change my mind a million times before then!!

Hi Melanie! Here is one of the websites I used to help make my decision to buy my Dreamer Design Ditto RPS, www.mystrollers.com. They gave dimensions on the seats, which I really needed to make an informed decision. There are other joggers to look at as well. However, I just bought my Dreamer Design jogger at www.joggingstroller.com. They had the best price I could find, as well as free shipping by FedEx ground. Their reviews were beneficial as well. I also checked out the websites GraceNote listed, which is where I learned of joggingstroller.com. They were very helpful. Thanks GraceNote!

We were just blessed with the arrival of our 2nd baby boy-Johnathan- on March 2nd and I'm debating on double strollers as well. I didn't check in much during pregnancy as my doc pretty much put the brakes on exercise with an active toddler, active job, and preterm labor at 28 wks...so I'm just itching to get back to it!
I had a question about the Dreamer Design Ditto-to anyone who owns this one, how big is your older child riding in this stroller? Joe is 40 lbs and 40 inches tall (square I guess!) and I want to know if anyone has had a child about the same size riding in this stroller as I would like to see if he'd be comfy or not before I order...on www.mystrollers.com it's on sale for $295ish with free shipping and a couple of extras, sounds like an awesome price...but wouldn't be so great if I had to return it for being too small. I measured Joe sitting and he's right at 22 inches from tush to head...
thanks to anyone who has some insight!
Julie :)

Hi Julie! Congratulations on your new arrival! Feel free to join us over at the postpartum check-in.

My DS is 3, soon to be 4 in June. He weighs 38 pounds and fits very comfortably in the seat with some room to spare. I really worried about him fitting in it since the few joggers he has sat in he would spill over into the other seat. If I can find the time tonight I will try to measure the seat for you.

Thanks so much!!! I'm getting spring fever-I'm ready to be outside!!! Has anyone used the infant insert that is available? Does it work well, or is it worth it? Thanks again and I'm going to join the PP checkin next week, I'm doing some ab exercises and just staying active. I'm BFing and have to follow the MSPI diet so I'm pretty much down to within 4 lbs of prepreg wt...but things aren't quite in the correct (ahem) position-little jiggly!
What was your fave "starting out" DVD?
thanks again!!!
julie:)

Kristi, I can't wait to go jogging!!!! I do have a kiddapatamous (sp?)Snuzzler infant insert and it works PERFECTLY. I actually have two of them and love them. Definitely worth the extra bucks...as it snuggles your baby so nicely & comfortably. ;) Let me know how you like yours, as I may get this one too! I'd like to know how easily it collapses. :)

Hi Julie! Due to the baby jogger being folded up in our garage I could only take partial measurements. However, I double checked my numbers with another site and they match up. The seat measures 10x14x24.

I know what you mean about things being jiggly and not in the right place. I'm still working on it myself and my DD is now 6 months. Great job with only 4 lbs left to prepregnancy weight.

My favorite starting out DVD was LoMax. I found it to be so easy to adjust to my lower fitness level.
