Don't you just love it when........

Someone who bench presses one or two times a week in his basement is constantly giving you advice about your routine? x( I swear I'm gonna smack this guy silly--he has no idea what he's talking about & yet he thinks he knows far more than I do.

I also love his comments "when I used to (yeah, I get the "when I used to" a lot) take karate, I practiced 6 hours a day." Are you kidding me? Who in the he!! trains 6 hours a day? He's got to be lying. I would think (unless you're trying out for the Olympic games) training that much would be counterproductive and, well, kind of dumb.

So tell me your stories about the big smart man knowing more than the silly little girl..........}(

No stories about the big smart man but my BIL, who lifts and stays in great shape, has tried to get DH to w/out with him to no avail. DH says he has no time to be that into it. Well, I told BIL that I'd lift with him because I'd like to lift heavier and have someone spot me. He blows me off every time. Acts like a girl can't possibly train with HIM! Well, last time he was at my house I challenged him to do some pull ups with me. Uhhh, he declined. He's a nice guy but what a chauvanist pig!!!!

I have an acquaintance who talks big about being in my sport. I hear "when I used to..." a lot. Thing is, I believed this person. Until I looked up the person's record in the sport and realized I'd surpass this person long ago in my record. When I casually mentioned I was surprised I had more experience, the person blew it off as poor record keeping on the part of the organization. So my mentor wasn't really a mentor at all. It was an interesting lesson for me. And a bit of a let down.

I hate know-it-all's. They are the worst! Especially since they are usually the ones who know THE LEAST! UGH! x( x( x(

My DH got touchy when I gave him some lifting pointers (but seriously, he only occasionally lifts--it's annoying how big his biceps are for so little effort). I suppose I might have been acting like a know-it-all myself, but I think he was just sensitive about the little wifey knowing more about weights than he does.

There's a difference between someone who is sincere in trying to help, like you with your DH and a cocky guy who is just doing it to try and show someone else up.

Besides Lainie....It's a well known fact that we women DO know it all and there's nothing anyone can do about it!:p :7 ;)

haha some men are so silly. My Xs cousin used to come over and pick up my barbell. Then he would ask me what I used to do with it. If I would say I had it loaded for squats or something he would do bicep curls and look at me like "haha I can lift as much with my arms as you can with your legs". I am thinking no crap you are a guy and you are doing a few reps I do a lot more reps with Cathe. I just let it go and let the meat head thing he was all manly. haha
