DOMS from GS workouts

Cathlete
I have been doing a rotation (5 weeks now) with the GS workouts doing a 3 day split. The first couple of weeks I had serious DOMS after every workout. Currently the DOMS experienced with GS BSB and GS legs are very mild now and I have been able to increase my weights. With GS CT, I still get major DOMS. I did this workout last night at 7 pm and by 7 am have DOMS. What the heck? Also, I haven't increased the weights in this workout since I began.

Does anyone else experience this or have I just found my weak areas?

Thanks for your response!

Karin

Oh Karin,

I did GS/CT for the first time this week and had major DOMS; same with GS/legs first time last week. I did GS/legs 2nd tiime yesterday and DOMS aren't as bad today. I get to do GS/BSB today.

I can let you know about my experience GS/CT DOMS next week after my 2nd go at it. Gotta love those DOMS

:p

It's taken me a long time, too, to get over DOMS in the chest and triceps. I know for a fact that they were my weak areas, so maybe that could be true for you too. But also, I think with these areas, you can really focus on form, and you can get more bang for your buck without increasing weights. For instance in GS CT, I know there's a killer push up section (I don't have this tape, but I've heard a lot about it.)Pushups are something that still give me DOMS because I can focus on how low I go, etc.

Yeah, GS w/o a doubt are DOMS inducing in some capacity. Seriously though, it really depends on how you are feeling that day, what w/o you have done aleady that week, energy level. I am generally able to keep up on C&T w/ all the 20lbs flys/presses, but this week I had to drop to 15s for flys and still had major DOMS. Here's another suggestion. I really would not do GS on consecutive days, upper body more specifically, b/c you muscles are already fatigued. HTH some.

I agree with Shannon about the push ups and Deb about the no GS upper body back to back. I notice in Cathe's rotations she may put GS/CT and legs back to back or GS/BSB and legs back to back, but never the 2 upper body workouts back to back. Oh gosh, who would want to do that?!
