does anyone use a moby wrap?

I was looking at one of these wraps- any pros or cons anyone could share? i was also looking at some baby slings as an option.

i used the ultimate baby wrap (same thing just a diff brand). some ppl find them very complicated to wrap around you but i did not mind that as long as i was not trying to do it with baby in hand. my baby was super comfy once in and i also found it very comfortable to wear for an extended period. unlike the sling which was NOT comfortable for long periods. sling was great for a quick in and out of a store or something but not for an all day thing or a long walk. the wrap criss crosses your back so it distributes the weight more evenly whereas the sling pulled on my shoulder and back on one side. an upside of the sling is that is it is small and easy to put on/put baby in compared to the wrap.

just keep in mind that everyone is different, lifestyle as well as our bodies, so what is comfortable and useful for one person will be different for another. i strongly recommend going to a store where you can try things on and also purchasing from stores with good return policies. personally, i returned a ring sling and mei tai, and i kept my wrap and sling because i found them useful for different things. AND i only used those 2 until my baby was about 8 months and at that point i felt he was too heavy to carry in those anymore. they are technically usable for much longer but i was not comfortable anymore. now i use an ergo and i highly recommend it for a baby 6months +.

I have the Moby Wrap and really like it. My baby is 3 weeks old so I havent used it more than about 6 times..but so far there are no cons for me. Very comfy and Kara loves being in it.

I have a Maya Wrap that I love. It holds little ones up until 35 lbs, so it lasts awhile, and comes with a tutorial CD featuring all kinds of different ways to wrap your kiddos based on their age. I used mine a lot when DS was around 6mos. The "kangaroo" pouch hold was very handy when he wanted to face out, but still be held.

I'd have to say that that was easier on my back then the Baby Bjorn, but I don't have another wrap style to reference for you.

Here is a pic of Kara in the Moby Wrap before we went trick or treating...its very comfy. Kara loves to be swaddled..but I would think if babies dont like to be swaddled like my older child they might not like the be wrapped. Just a thought.

susan- no i can hardly believe how fast its going! has kara changed alot already?Kate is already looking older-she started out at 9lbs 5 oz and is already up to 10lbs 2.5 oz! i wish the newborn stage didnt go by so fast!

thanks for the info on the wrap also- that looks really cool- i think kate would like it,she likes to be held really snug.;)

I'm a little late here but wanted to add that baby Julia and I loved the moby wrap too! There is some learning curve to it but once you get it it's wonderful! However, we couldn't use it for a terribly long time because she gained a lot of weight fast and would stretch out the fabric of it. I would have to rewrap her often. We switched over to a Beco when she had better head control. She turned one last month and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY BECO! The thing is awesome! And soooooo cute!

Check out quirkybaby.com. There are so many carriers on that site. And Jane, the gal that runs it, is a peach! I called her and we talked for a long time about which carrier would be right for us.

Hope you find something you love!
And congrats on your sweet punkin'! Love the name! :)
