Hello! I am new to Cathe.com but have been working out with her videos for a while. I love her! Anyway.

Does anyone know if it's dangerous to continue to use Equal and Splenda when trying to get pregnant and during pregnancy?

I don't think that enough research has been done especially since Splenda is a relatively new product. I would recommend avoiding chemicals like these during pregnancy. (my doctor told me to avoid them as well)

Hi Jessica,

Once I was pregnant my doc advised me to avoid use of all of those sweeteners except for Splenda and even that one was a "well if you HAVE to use one then use Splenda" kind of deal...

I can't comment on when you are trying to conceive because my DH and I just kinda went for it before I had the chance to see the doc so I didn't get any guidance during that time...

Have a great work out!

When I had to follow a special diet for gestational diabetes they said that Equal had to be substituted in place of sugar to help regulate blood sugar. I think it depends on your doctor and if there are any special circumstances. Personally I prefer the real thing to artifical sweeteners, but you have to do what you have to do.

The mid-wife that I'm seeing didn't mention anything regarding artifical sweeteners. But as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I stopped drinking diet soda. And since Splenda is pretty new I've steered clear of that as well.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I will be seeing my doctor March 2. I will see what she says.

Thanks a bunch!

Jessica
