Does Anybody Know What This Means?

On the forum index page, way down near the bottom in the box titled "What's going On?", you'll see the user names of everyone who is logged on.

Some user names have a little + sign after them. What does that mean? It's driving me crazy! And why are some names in black when most are in blue?

I think the + sign means they have been added as your friends and if a name is in black means you've visited their profile page.
