Does any one live near Pataluma CA?

My son is going to the Coast Guards Electronic school there and I was wondering if any of you live near there? We are going to take our first family trip to California to see him in April. Wondered if you all had some suggested places to visit. Or to go run? Crazy question I know but I just had to ask, just in case.

...but we are from Northern California (by the way it is Petaluma

). You'll be very near the wine country which is a real treat. Also, its just about an hour and a half from the Califronia coast with its wonderful cliffs, beaches and very cold water.And of course, do not miss San Francisco to the south. A really fun restarurant there is the 'Fog City Diner.' Also try Ghiradelli Square for great chocolate and/or ice cream, and Fisherman's Wharf for out-of-this world seafood. And, don't forget to have some sourdough bread...you'll get hooked, I am sure.

You can't go wrong, and if anything you'll will have too much to do. If you want to head east...go Highway 50, stop in Placerville then head on to Lake Tahoe - one of the most beautiful natural lakes on the planet. This would be a good overnight trip from Petaluma.

If so, it is in Sonoma County, which is north of Marin County (where I live), which is north of San Francisco. Petaluma is a neat town, and Sonoma County has some wonderful wineries to visit. You're not far from Napa County, the well-known winery region of northern California, and about 50 miles away from San Francisco, which as a million things to offer. Also, the coast is not too far. Bodega Bay (where they filmed Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds") isn't too far away.

Not too long.

I just bought our plane tickets. I'm so excited. I've found some interesting site on the web that have given me some great ideas. I don't think we will have enough time. Lora
