I was working out on my treadmill yesterday and usually try to vary the speed, intensity etc... well anyway I did 7mph at a 1%incline for 5straight minutes, then 8mph for 2 min, and then 9mph for 1 minute. I was surprised I was able to do that considering at 7mph made a 8:30pace per mile,9mph made 71/2pace per mile and 9mph made a 61/2pace per minute. too bad I cant do this outdoors and maintain that for my 5k races. I also jumped rope 5minutes 2x. That burns alot of calories in 10minutes according to sparkpeople.com. Anyway I think my endurance is finally getting better.I hope it continues to do so.

I know it is awesome when we amaze ourseleves! And when I do it, it always leaves me wondering...why do I have more energy? What did I eat yesterday? What did I drink? How much sleep did I get? Because I always thing there MUST be a reason why we can do this today but have trouble with it tomorrow.

I had to work my way up to running. I have asthma and could barely run1/4mile when I first started. Now I have done 2 1/2marathons and many 5k races. If you would have told me that 2yrs ago, I would have said yeah right, I will never be able to run, especially that far. I did , with determination and I love running. It helps me clear my mind, destress and escape in a zone that is all mine. you should try it, you'll get hooked!!!

Laura, that's amazing! Thanks for posting. I need all the encouragement I can get. It's so easy for me to blow off cardio. I literally have to force myself to do it. In the meantime, I've watched my waistline expand and now I have to really slog through a simple workout because I've allowed my cardio capacity to slip to an all time low. Thanks for the motivating testimonial.

All the time. Some days I feel like I am not that strong, but then when I put my heart and soul into a workout, I am surprised how well I still do. I have to tell myself I can do it all the time when I lift heavy, squat, etc. I admire so many people and those who climbed Mt. Everest, etc. and live to tell about it. I think everyone can do more than they think they can. It is all in the mind, all in the mind!

Sometimes I can push harder and farther than ever before - which surprises me in a very wonderful way! Other days, even an 8 lb dumbbell feels heavy - which surprises me in a not-so-wonderful way!
