Do you steam or iron your clothes?

I can't believe Mama Deb hasn't replied to this thread yet. :) She is the QUEEN of ironers and irons an outfit for herself EVERY SINGLE DAY. I am in awe. ;-)

Me, I'm a steamer. In our closet a lot of floorspace is taken up by my standing industrial-strength steamer that I've had for about 100 years. I use it every day and RARELY iron things. There are some items that definitely would benefit from ironing, but I am so iron-averse that the trade-off is just fine with me. I'll bet there are cobwebs on my iron, as a matter of fact. ;-)

You are not alone, Jonahnah! I iron nearly every day and I iron jeans. :) I kind of like mindless tasks like ironing...it is a good way to clear your head. I have a Rowenta iron which produces oodles of steam and I don't need anything else. I recommend Rowenta to anyone else who irons. :)

>>>>>My mom on the other hand, she irons her pajamas. And washcloths. Anything that woman can get her hands on, she'll iron. Maniac, I tell ya. She's an ironing maniac.

Too funny! It was such a different generation years ago. They took pride in having no wrinkles!:7

Phew, there ARE people who iron so I'm NOT alone. I was beginning to feel ostracized there for a moment. :p

When I used to work in corporate USA, I would iron my weeks worth of clothes on Sundays. Now I really do try to not iron which has resulted in me wearing a lot of the same clothes over again because I had a pile that were clean but needed ironing but would wash and wear the same ones in attempting to avoid the ironing thing. Since ironing last night, I'm sure the people at work are happy to see some different threads on me. :+

Melissa, I hope I didn't offend you re: ironed jeans! Please forgive me if I did. I actually iron my bermuda shorts, maybe that qualifies me as a fanatic!! I hear you on Rowentas--my sister's been raving about them for years. I'll get one when my current iron goes to that appliance graveyard in the sky...

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

>O.K., you guys have me a bit perplexed. What about clothes
>that you have folded in drawers that have the fold line in
>them or seasonal clothes that are put away or not taken out of
>the drawers for months that have wrinkles? Is there a secret
>to this that I've been missing all these years? Please fill
>me in! I's gotst to know!!! :7

Whenever anything gets wrinkled from sitting on the shelf too long, out of sheer laziness I throw it in with the dry cleaning and it comes back all perfect and pristine folded over a hanger in plastic. Love that!

OMG I can't get over all of you who have the fortitude to iron!!! Good for you!

I, myself, consider myself lucky when I catch myself in a window reflection and look less than 50% worse than I did in the morning. :p

My friend once had the same kind of dillema I have: she had black shoes and blue shoes and couldn't tell the difference... so she wrote on them... but, LOL, she distinguished them by writing "B" on the black pair... and yes, "B" on the blue pair.

That story cracks me up every time.

Back to ironing: my mom I think still irons my dad's handkerchiefs. OMG they are 60 years old; that seems waaay too young to behave that way! :+ Let me tell you, I for the life of me cannot figure out why mom taught me everything about being a housewife except how to iron. I don't mind, though!!

I'm a cleaner like Nance is a cleaner... as in, it's either in plastic and clean or it's on its way to the dry cleaner!
