Do you give up anything for Lent?

Oh yes! I give up seafood, tofu, milk, liver...you know...all the things I don't like.:p

ETA I seem to recall that you gave up cookies last year. Are you planning an encore?

No, I don't but instead I do extra charity work for the homless shelter and the animal shelter.

I believe it is better to give of yourself and help people than give up some form of food of drink.
I feel like that because I went to a very old fashion Catholic School and the Nuns were crazy you had to give up candy and soda and God help you if you didn't.
I am still suffering from Sister Mary whatever her name was complex.

Oh how well I know about Sr. Mary whatever!

Susan that is very giving of you. If I had more time I would love to be able to do that.

I'm giving up soft drinks, which is a big addiction for me.

Marie, how is your ankle?

I don't do lent, but probably should, if only to try ONE more thing to keep the crap out of my mouth.

Susan, I admire you for giving you time to help others.

No, I do not give up anything for Lent.
Another victim here of Sister Mary Whatever . . .

Sorry, but what exacally is Lent? I just barely heard of it last year and knew people gave up something, but why? I'm guessing it's a Catholic thing, because of the Sister Mary Whatevers?:) Anyhows, I'm going to give up one of my many vices, just not sure which one yet. Might toss a coin. LOL!

I'm giving up wine and all land meat (I'll continue with fish and shellfish - you know Catholic "vegetarianism" even though I know full well, it's not a vegetarian diet). The meat I won't miss. The wine I will...

Robin, the ankle is slowly healing, thanks for asking. I've had to give up my P90X rotation, though, and am doing heavy u/b and core work along with lots of Fluidity. I heart Fluidity.

:)

I've given up sweets and soda in the past and the harder of the 2 for me was definitely SODA!

This year our family is giving up yelling (at one another) for Lent. We are going to try to speak to each other in civil tones when we get upset with each other. Of course that means I can still yell at dumb drivers on the road. ;-) :+

I think I will give up all sweets except the sugar in my tea, not out of any religious conviction but simply to say that I can make it through without it. Damn sweets!

Well last year I gave up meat, and part way into lent I gave up dairy and most artificial sugar products. I have not not gone back to land animals except for a rare serving of cheese. I mostly eat soy cheese.

As for artifical sugars I very rarely have a diet soda, and never have any other form of sugar substitute
Now truth be told I eat seafood regularly.

For lent this year I don't have any food sacrifices to make. It would never be logical to give up coffee or chocolate. I would be one nasty lady

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

I am considering giving up my soda, saving the money, and donating it to charity. I guess I should decide since tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. :)
