Do steps wear out?

I've had my step for about six years now.

Do these things need to be replaced? Do they lose their "bounce"?

It would really be helpful if they lasted forever as spending money on *another* piece of equipment just isn't feasible right now!

Thanks in advance-

I have never heard of that, but I guess anything is possible. I guess it's most important how it feels/looks to you?

Nah - I kind of like its beat-up look with the duct-taped-on tread. Makes me feel like I've accomplished something - LOL!

Oy! Well, thanks for THOSE details. Okay, maybe it is time for another step. Although it's a little moolah, very worth it considering how much you use it.

I don't think they lose their cushioning capacity ('bounce') but the treads could wear out or start to come off.

As for buying a new one: if the duct tape doesn't get in the way of your stepping (could be a safety hazard), I'd say stick with it. You might even be able to find some kind of rubber treading to replace the old stuff with (and GLUE it on with something like "Gorilla Glue"---which might be a good idea for your current tread anyway).

I inherited mine from my old roommate when I moved out, so it's about 10 yrs old. When I brought it out several months ago (when I really started in with Cathe) I ended up having to re-inforce the treads with Gorilla Glue on the ends. They started peeling up. Worked like a charm!
