Do I need to leave 48 hrs bet. circuit wkouts & strengt...

I hope this isn't a stupid question to ask; but, I'm fairly new to Cathe but I was just wondering, when you do circuit workouts such as Body Max or CTX's Power Circuit, can you do a regular weight training workout the next day? I know your suppose to leave 48 hours between weight workouts...do these circuit type workouts also count as weight work?

I think the lighter the weight used, the more you can do. Heavier weight training requires more rest and repair than light days.

Hi Stepfan! If you are not excessively sore the day after a circuit workout, then feel free to do a weight training workout. But if a particular body part(s) is sore, then avoid working that particular body part(s). For example, when I did High Step Advanced the first couple of times, I really used heavy weight for the upper body portions and was sore in my entire upper body the next day. I would not have done a weight workout that next day based on the soreness I was experiencing. So you really need to listen to your body to make that judgement.

Side Note: Body Max is a fairly aggressive workout and not considered a classic circuit-like workout since the upper body work is grouped at the end as a 30 minute workout. If you do the 30 minute portion of upper body weight training at the end of Body Max with your full focus, I would consider this to be a true upper body weight workout.

Good Luck!

Cathe, thanks so much for your help. That's just what I wanted to know. As for Body Max, I was mainly talking about the circuit section, I figured the upper body was a weight workout in itself...it's a tough workout!
