Digital Camera Question

Beavs

Cathlete
I have a fairly new Kodak digital camera. Nothing fancy. Despite having new batteries, when I turn on the camera it stays on briefly and then shuts down. I have to keep turning it on and every so often it will stay on long enough for me to snap a picture or two. :(
A friend suggested that I try replacing my memory card (which is also fairly new) as she had the same thing happen to her camera and replacing the card worked. Has anyone experienced this? I hate to rush out and buy a new card only to end up disappointed and singing the camera blues in my Big Mama Thorton voice (trust me, it's not pretty).
Thanks!

Sounds like it might be a power issue. Are you using rechargeable batteries. My cheesy Sony does the same thing when I use alkaline batteries. Just a thought...

I've actually used multiple sets of new batteries so I don't think it's that. In fact, the reading shows that the batteries are at full strength yet the dang thing shuts off.

Sorry Chickie...might try the kodak site...I have found that geek problems are easily solved at geek sites. Try customer service blog and use your model number. Chances are you are not the only person with this issue....HTH

Beavs,

I had the same problem, but for me, it was solved when I bought a new battery. The one that came with the camera didn't last long at all; the cheap-o replacement has lasted forever. Figures. :)

Anyway, I hope you have some luck at the Kodak site or can still return/exchange it, if not.

I have a Sony that is giving the same problem and now it does not turn on period, Can someone recommend a good brand for digital camera

I get alot of compliments on my Nikon coolpix. It takes great pictures and I've never had any problems with it. In general I think Nikon makes a great camera.

check your settings

I bet your camera is set to power off after being idle for a few minutes. Digital cameras eat batteries like crazy. You need to go in and change the settings so that your camera doesn't automatically turn off so quickly. It will eat batteries more quickly if you do this though.

I wish that were the case but it shuts off within about 30 seconds of turning it on. Could the settings turn it off so quickly?

I have a Sony that used to do the exact same thing. It was the batteries. I can only use the rechargable ones in it and they don't stay charged for long. That's the only thing I can think of and someone else already said that.
