What is your opinion on this? I went about a year without drinking the stuff. I didn't think anything was different, so I started back. For the past month I have been NEEDING to eat sweets. While I was off the stuff I was doing fine, just eating whatever I felt like.

So I stopped drinking it again. After a week of headaches, I feel fine, without the severe cravings.

Go figure.

I used to think it was a myth.

Hi!

I think there is a relation, at least in my experience there is. I cut out drinking diet sodas...trying to eliminate caffeine and the aspartame from my diet. The craving for sweets has gone way down. I think I read that if a person is sugar sensitive, as I believe I am, aspartame acts juts like sugar in creating this horrible cycle of craving, and mood swings.

Just my experience; could just be a coincidence. However, even if the diet sodas don't contribute to our craving sweets, it's a good idea to eliminate aspartame.

Many years ago, I used to start the day with a Diet Coke and drank it all day long. I did that for years! I started to get very ill and after reading a lot about how diet sodas are harmful, I decided to stop drinking it. I can't tell you the difference it made. I know so many people who are addicted to Diet Coke. There is something addictive about it. I was. But I am so happy now without it. I refuse to drink any sodas whatsoever. I now drink a ton of water everyday. I do drink teas but no more than two cups a day. I never lecture anybody about sodas and how bad they are - I just won't drink them myself. I'm sure you will be a lot happier in the long run too. Pretty soon you won't miss it.
