Did this ruin my workout?

This morning I did IMAX3 & took a break for some water after interval 5, as I usually do. Well, while heading to the fridge I stepped in dog poop (one of the things I forgot to mention in the pug thread yesterday--I don't know about the rest of you pug owners but mine has been impossible to housebreak).

Anyway, I had to run upstairs & change sneakers, of course fumbling w/the double knot on the poopy ones, so my one minute break turned into maybe 4-5 minutes. How long does it take your heart rate to return to normal? Was I starting from scratch when I started interval 6?

I'd hate to think I did such a freakin hard workout for nothing. x(

I'm sure you didn't truly RUIN your work out but I'll bet your heart rate dropped pretty quickly! The better (cardiovascular) shape you are in, the quicker it returns to normal. Mine will drop pretty quickly and I'm sure you are in better shape!

Just think of it as 2 separate shorter work outs instead of 1 long one...they say you don't have to do a ton of cardio all at once...as little as 10 mins will have a positive effect!:)

I'm thinking that the extreme irritation that you felt for having to deal with the dog doo probably kept your heart rate on up there. Plus, you had to take the stairs to get the new shoes. And you probably really kicked butt on the second half because you had extra energy borne of frustation.

Now, you may not have been irritated at all. However, when my dog puked on the rug and I had to stop and clean it up, I certainly was.

LOL Shannon! Yeah, irritated is a rather diplomatic word. I was totally PI$$ED & poor little Max got a good talking to. Not that it does any good--it never has in the past.

Brandy has a bad habit of eating grass, which of course she can't digest. So it comes back up. Once she starts heaving, it's usually too late to stop her. But there have been a few times when I catch her on the first heave and yell - it scares the grass right back down where it came from!

Shannon, as I understand it dogs eat grass intentionally to throw up when they're not feeling well. Is it possible Brandy's food is making her queasy?

Oh no, she's fine. I think she's been around this vegetarian for too long. Or maybe she thinks she's one of the horses.

I agree with Shannon. Since you were probably rushing to get your other shoes on and not just sitting around, your heart rate was probably still somewhat elevated. I wouldn't worry about it too much if I were you!
