Did anyone see Tyra Banks today?

Does anyone watch this show? She sorta gets on my nerves a little but I am getting use to her;)
I watched todays show and it was about plastic surgery gone wrong.I guess there are side effects to everything and some of us choose not to listen.I know I never listen to side effects when taking flu medication and stuff.I know this is not the same comparison...but Im just say'in, ya know!?:)
Anyway..there were some awful pics on there of people who have had surgery.I can't imagine. You think you are improving yourself but you come out looking worse. It must be devastating.
Just wondering if anyone else say the show? I think I will think twice if I ever fall into a bucket of money or my second marriage being to a plastic surgeon! LOL You know Im just joking!:)
Lori:)

Hi Lori. I don't watch that show but it sounds like it would have been an interesting show.

Since I underwent a (successful) plastic surgery a few years ago, I am very aware of the RISKS involved...atleast for my particular procedure....

Making the decision to have any kind of (plastic/cosmetic) surgery is a HUGE one and should not be taken lightly...but when the research is done and the doc is NOT chosen by "eeny meeney miney mo" method, I firmly believe that you are in good hands and the surgery will largely be a success with a possiblity of some minor complications or set-backs. I'm not saying horrible things do not happen because they do...but they are not the NORM.

I am very happy with the decision I made and would not change it for the world!:+

Just my 2 cents on the plastic surgery issue! :)

I don't watch the show in question but if I ever decided to have a face lift...I want the French doctor who did the partial face transplant on that woman who was disfigured by her dog. I was amazed at how well her facial incision's looked. She will be one lucky woman if her body never rejects the tissue. And he is a master with a needle and thread!

I saw that to! can you imagine that she started smoking again?

This particular show was about a women with breast implants but I started watching it after it had been on for a few minutes. From what I gathered, the Doc's full up or she was the 1 in 1000 case, and she was a mess.It showed pics of her breast and how deformed they were. She also has nothing now b/c there is no breat tissue left and she is still in pain somedays. She says there are days when it feels like there is something crawling under her skin. She also said that she couldn't hold her baby b/c she was in to much pain, and all she did was sleep to forget about it.How sad!
Im sure most cases workout with plastic surgery but you rarely hear the real horror stories.
Lori:)

Unfortunately, as rare as it may be to hear about the horror stories, that is ALL you hear...No one talks about the success stories...about the millions of HAPPY patients...about the many many EXCELLENT docs out there...about the GOOD that come of a procedure done right...no, no one talks about THOSE things...;(

Oh well...that is why I repeat over and over again about how my experience was a great one... :)

About the face transplant gal who's smoking...it's a TOUGH habit to break and being an ex-smoker, it doesn't surprise me at all...It's been 2 years since I quit-well it WILL be in March!-and TRUST me, I STILL want to smoke atleast once a week! If I lit one up right now I'd probably be right back at it and buying a pack in the morning!

Wait...I have one success story for consideration...Dolly Parton. Now, I'm talking face lifts here not her boobs. Dolly is approaching 60, if she's not there now, and yet her complexion is absolutely flawless. And I can't figure out what her plastic surgeon does that makes her eyes not look her age. You know what I mean? You can keep clipping the skin off the eye lids but everyone's eye balls age...but not Dolly's. Her eyes are as bright and clear as a twenty year old. Baffles me how her doctor's accomplish that!

I would let her plastic surgeon work on me too.:p

>It's been 2 years since I quit-well it WILL be in
>March!

Hi fit mom...just wanted to say me too!! Two years in March...March 6, to be exact...congratulations to both of us! :)

YEAH, TERRYMIA AND WENDY!!! That is so awesome! I know it is hard, DH quit five years ago and he still gets the urge to light up when he sees other people smoking. I am so proud of you guys!!!

I missed Tyra, but I did see this talk show a few years ago on plastic surgery and unusual stories surrounding it. One story was this woman who had implants that saved her life! She was on the ocean fishing and her husband was pulling the line in because he got a bite. When he got the fish close to boat, a SWORDFISH!!! jumps out of the water and stabs her right in the breast. Because of her implant, the "sword" slid off of her ribcage and saved her life! Isn't that something? She had terrible scarring, but her organs, especially those lungs, are still there and untouched! How cool is that? :)

Another was they were able to id a body by the implant serial number and let a family lay their daughter to rest. Whodathunkit?

Missy

Thanks TerryMia and Missy for the congrats! And TerryMia...congrats right back atcha' babe! ^5! Quitting smoking is by far THE HARDEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE!!!!!

Missy, great stories! Thanks for sharing! I think I may have heard the body ID one before...but the swordfish one is quite amazing...almost sounds made up it's so out of the ordinary! LOL :)

Okay, off to move along with my day now...:)

Wendy, I wouldn't have believed it either, but they were on a fishing trip with friends and have it on video so all the viewers got to see it (I couldn't turn away from it!). It really was something else! :) I think it was on either Oprah or Montel, I can't remember. It was so long ago. But it does sound more like folklore than reality, doesn't it? :+

Missy

Hey, thanks Wendy and Missy, for the congrats :) Wendy, oh my, girl, YES!!...quitting smoking was definitely my biggest challenge in life to date as well! :) I'm still dealing with the "weight gain" after-effects, but I feel sooo much better overall! :)

Missy, that swordfish story is AMAZING! lol

"I'm still dealing with the "weight gain" after-effects, but I feel sooo much better overall!"

Believe it or not I didn't gain an ounce when I quit! I couldn't freakin' believe it! I was sooo happy! I mostly munched on pretzel sticks and then I also sucked on some hard candy or chewed some gum. What else helped me are actual fake cigarettes that I purchased at the food store...I found them within a week or so of quitting and grabbed them up...figured they couldn't hurt and boy did they ever help!!! They were an amazing tool in helping me quit. I also used "smoke away"...quitting cold turkey was NOT gonna happen for me!

Any who...congrats and you WILL get that weight off!:)

>>Believe it or not I didn't gain an ounce when I quit!

I'm jealous!! That's amazing!! :)

I heard "Smoke Away" was a good program...that's funny you mention the fake cigarettes...I actually ordered one online but never actually used it...I used the Nicotrol inhaler though, a LOT, lol...I think I substituted my addiction for cigarettes over to that, for at least 6 months after I quit...between that and working out constantly, I think it really did help...I gained about 15 pounds but I think it could've been a lot worse...it still sucks though! LOL

Well, you gained 15 pounds for a VERY good reason! I, on the other hand, had gained 15 pounds for absolutely NO reason and had recently and finally lost the weight so when I quit I was PETRIFIED of gaining it back again so fast! Maybe that's why I didn't gain...lol :)

Smoke Away was and excellent program...well worth the $ IMO. It made me a bit loopy so driving was not fun at first...kinda scarey and I never read a warning on the packages that that might happen x( ...but none-the-less...I think it was the key to my success!:)

Yes Wendy, I meant to congratulate you on quitting (and there was someone else to) it must take a lot of willpower to give something up.Its no walk in the park.
My old boss use to quit smoking all the time and talk about a bi&*h turning into a bigger bi&*h! Then she would gain weight and she was only short. Then she would quit again, gain more weight and pick it up again! All she ever accomplished was gaining weight and treating people awful.
Ugh...I don't miss her, not one little bit!
Lori:)
