Deep South GTG - anybody interested?

Shannon, I am actually 6 hours from Nashville. DH told me it was not 8 hours and I got on Mapquest and he's right... I am about 9 hours from Memphis, so you'd have a three hour trip from Memphis to Nashville.

The first of June sounds good to me. I work the weekend of the 17th so that weekend would be out for me as well as the last weekend as that is the 4th of July weekend. If we decide Nashville, I'm glad to see we have someone who lives there that knows their way around. I am directionally challenged... I will be doing good not to wind up at the Outer Banks when I head out!! LOL....

August would be the best month for me. A friend from out of town is planning to come see me the first weekend in June. I will be going to visit my family the second weekend in June and already have plane tickets, so that is definitely out for me. The 4th of July weekend is full for me. The weekend of July 22nd is out for me too. I am planning a beach trip for July with friends but do not know the date yet. Nashville is 13 hours from me, so I would likely need to find cheap plane tickets unless someone in the area wants to travel with me. No matter what we decide, I need as much advance notice as possible so I can get this on the vacation calendar at work.

Hi Southern Belles!!:)

I've had to be away most of yesterday and today, but glad to see y'all have been busy.:) I can get to TN, I don't know how far from Nashville I am, it's about a 2 hr drive to Chattanooga I think.

I can't make the w/e of June 9/10 as my niece has scheduled her wedding in northeast GA and, thank her, it's my bday.x( Sometime in August my youngest DS will be having surgery, but we haven't actually scheduled that yet.

Shelley and Robin, will you REALLY come to this? Noone has to LIVE in the south to attend.

Does someone know how to make one of those poll thingies? I haven't the foggiest. I think it might be the easiest way to tell what month is best for which people - just click on the month that's best for you. Once we find the month with the most votes, we can choose the actual dates.

If someone can help with that, I think we should include June, July , Aug. and Sept in the poll.

And please please please please - don't vote if you're not serious about attending!

September wouldn't be bad... anyone wishing to fly will be able to get a better deal on tickets the further out they book.

Maybe if we wait until September, we won't have to take loans out to buy gas for the trip!!:p

Thanks for starting the poll. I voted for September. Not only will airfare and gas be cheaper, but Nashville is very hot and humid in the summer. ;-)

You're welcome Heather.... Shannon had a good idea adding Sept to the mix.... there seems to be a lot of conflicts in June, July, and Aug... as there usually are since these are the heavy vacation months. I sure hope gas comes down before then, my SVU just loves the stuff!! I didn't think about the weather but Nashville will definitely be more comfortable in September although it can still get pretty warm and humid here in the South in September.
