Decorating opinion

Any thoughts or input would be great! You guys are always a great source of ideas and opinions!

The living room has ivory walls, a green trim and hardwood floors. There's a green and beige couch cover (this might get tossed).

What color curtains? I am trying to think of something that would complete the look but maybe jazz it up a bit.

Also might consider a throw rug for the middle of the floor. Any color suggestions on that?

My first thought was a deep burgundy--that always seems to look so pretty with green and ivory. But, that may look too Christmas-y. Maybe a deep plum would be nice.

I like burgundy or plum also. Or....maybe a sienna or cinnabar color. Have you considered a print or stripe that had the two colors you mentioned and some other colors? This may be your best bet to jazz things up. Pottery Barn and Bombay have some nice window coverings.

I like the idea of a cinnabar or sienna - a darker brownish tone. Then maybe a splash of a brighter color like Candi suggested. You could accent the sofa with throw pillows in the cinnabar and the brighter color. And I echo - check out Pottery Barn. A throw rug for sure - it would warm up the room. Coordinate it with the window coverings. If you lived in PA I'd tell you to go to the mall in West Chester and talk to my sister - she'd have a ton of ideas for you!

I would do something with green, a shade of brown and ivory for curtains. I would try to find a stripe(could be hard)- and then do toss pillows with those colors in florals and stipes using different fabrics (corderoy, silk, and suede) You could incorperate other colors, like blues or reds with the 3 above colors in your rug and floral arrangements in the room.
I love decorating!!:)
Have fun!
Deanie:)

PS I did my whole home in shades of green and shades of browns and some shades of blue(in my boys rooms). (I have other colors here and there but they are my 3 primary colors)

A plum or lavender would be really nice, depending on the size of the room. The smaller the room the lighter the color b/c dark colors make small rooms look smaller.

Darnit Christine, I have a sisal rug in my attic that would go perfectly. When is the next time you're coming to Jersey?

Thanks everyone! :)

I was looking around the room last night with these ideas in mind and came up with a few good ideas. I like the plum/lavender idea a little bit more than cranberry, just because of the "type" of green that is in the room. It's difficult to describe but it is a very different shade of green.

Laura, you are the best, thank you! BUT this is me helping out the new BF and we don't want to be passing him your goodies just yet! ;)

JCPenney has some striped curtains that include your colors along with an awesome cinnabar/orange that I just LOVE. These might look really good... I am big into stripes at the moment. :)
