December 2010 Rotation Check-in WEEK OF 12/19/2010

Wendy, you've mentioned a few times before (elsewhere, not on this check in) that you're not running....is there a reason?

Teri....LOOOOVE Step Blast!

Yes there sure is! The gym I was a member of is the one that I also worked for p/t in childcare/babysitting for 3 years when my son was little. I originally got the membership as a gift from DH and became an employee after that so I was in the midst of a 2 year contract when they hired me. They "froze" that contract and put me under an employee membership whereby I got to use the gym for free as long as I worked there. How it was SUPPOSED to work is that when I was no longer under their employment, the free employee membership would be void but my original contract would resume which would leave me with 6 months left under contact and then after that I could stay on as a gym member or leave as I wished. Well, shortly after I resigned I went there to use the TM and found out that when I resigned they not only terminated my employee membership but also my original contract membership! I was no longer a member of the gym so therefore not allowed to use it. Ofcourse the morons burned themselves because I technically still had 6 months of dues to pay that were under contract before I could cancel and they robbed themselves of those dues! I COULD have signed back up as a member that night but no way was I doing that after they did that to me! HAH!

I was going to go "shopping" for another gym but it was shortly after that I began working more and more hours and eventually went f/t and going to a gym quickly became unrealistic for me. I am not in love with outdoor running. I much prefer the TM. I would do it in nice weather at times just for a change, or for the social aspect of running with a buddy, and would do it to train for longer races and ofcourse any races I entered were outdoors but for me to run outside all the time w/o access to a treadmill? Nope, not gonna happen therefore I haven't run since...

So there ya have it. My very long-winded explanation of why I am no longer running. Sorry you asked? :p

PS...and my house is the size of shoe box so even though I would LOVE to buy a treadmill, I have no room for one.
:(

Not sorry at all that I asked. I AM glad that it's not due to an injury or anything other than someone's stupidity! ;) Listen, I totally GET preferring TM running. When I started running, it was just after DH passed away and my kids were only 3 and 6. I invested in a treadmill (who I have lovingly named Eddie the Tready) and spent 90% of my time running ON it (or shall I say HIM, lol). I trained for the Disney full but did ALL my training on Eddie, and only did my long runs with the Team in Training Team. I even had to do my 18 miler on Eddie because it was dead of winter and the team met 30 mins from my house and that morning we had an ice storm. LOL It wasn't, REALLY, until this past Summer that I took the majority of my running outdoors. My kids are now 13 and 10 and are old enough to be left alone for a bit, so I'm okay with going outside. And I discovered I LOVE it outside. Mind you, those first few years of running on Eddie were exactly what I needed to work thru things in my head...the solitary runs were very therapeutic...and now I've worked my way to outdoor runs AND running with others. Running has gone thru so many phases with me and for me.

OH MY holy RAMBLE, Bat Man, SORRY!

Thanks for sharing, Gayle. I always somehow felt like I wasn't a "real" runner b/c I preferred the treadmill and did the majority of my running on it. If it weren't for races which I enjoyed participating in to challenge myself and my running buddy wanting to meet at the park on a saturday or sunday morning, I would probably NEVER have taken it outside! :p

Good Morning Girls.

Today the rotation calls for STS TB. My fave! Unfortunately I will only be doing the lower body exercises today plus abs. My left shoulder has been "complaining" a lot lately and I think it's affecting my entire arm. My left side was always my strong side and as of late it's far from it so I've decided to be cautious and rest my upper body for a bit...I will likely add on some cardio to fill the time I am saving by not working the u/b. One can never get enough cardio this time of year afterall!

We had a Christmas Luncheon at work y'day--all yummy italian food and then DH wanted to go out to dinner last night. Normally I would've told him I didn't want to go but I must've been in the Christmas spirit as I agreed to it. LOL I did good though...it wasn't hard. I don't even think I was hungry yet! I had a 1/2 sandwich and salad combo...a veggie sandwich w/some hummus on it made on some type of whole grain bread and a small tossed garden salad with a little dressing and a sprinkling of shredded cheese. It was tastey and light. Even as much as I wasn't really hungry, I still did not walk out of there feeling like I over did it so I was happy.

To add insult to injury, we are going to my mom's tonight to celebrate Christmas with her and will be having PIZZA for dinner and it just gets worse from there for Christmas eve and Christmas day. :p

Okay, I'm done rambling about food....BBL!

I did STS TB: Lower Body Only plus 1/2 of 6 week six pack w/o #2 this morning. WOW! That short workout packed A LOT MORE PUNCH then I bargained for! It was a sweat dripping, heart pounding, muscle pumping work out from start to finish! YEOWZERS!

Let the Food Frenzy begin, hugh, Wendy? lol Try to enjoy yourself....I'm planning on slacking just a wee bit...A WEE BIT...for the next week. No big all-out 'free day' or anything, but if the occasion pops up then I will enjoy something in moderation. The inlaws were supposed to take me and the boys out for lunch tomorrow....they've since cancelled so THAT food temptation has been eliminated.

I just finished up LBB and did it with the Leg Conditioning Drills. Holy Guacamole! Seriously! OUCH! But I loved it. How sick is that. I loved those drills, especially the back angled-lunges or squats or whatever. I call them curtsy lunges and have just recently learned about them, so this was very welcome indeed. I have a feeling I'll be sore tomorrow...we'll see.

Kids and I have a quiet rest-of-the-day...making them homemade Sloppy Jakes (most call them Sloppy Joes, but since my older son is Jacob, well....Sloppy Jakes, lol). I'll be making a healthier soup for me to have on hand.

Christmas Eve Friday

Good Morning Girls.

My legs/buns are DOMS'ing a bit from STS L/B y'day. Have IMAX2 on tap for today as per the rotation. Should make it interesting!

Gayle, I will eat healthy when I am home over the holidays but unfortunately we travel for Christmas and eating healthy is pretty impossible then b/c every house we go to is piled sky-high is the most delectible unhealthy options! Not sure if I should happy or sad about that! ;) Anyway, all I can do is try not to eat TOO MUCH. Then I have 5 days to get back on track until New Years. We go down Atlantic City every New Year's w/e. All I can do there is try not to over-eat as well.

Okay time to move... I just look at the clock

BBL!

Hey, Wendy. The whole food thing is hard when you're not at home or in control of the menu. Sounds like you've got a plan. Just enjoy yourself. We're still way better off than most, right? :)

First, let me just say I never have DOMS in my quads. These stocky quads are tough to tire out......but today....MY QUADS ARE sore, and I totally blame those Leg Conditioning Drills from LBB yesterday. WOW! I love it and believe I'll be reaching for those drills more often!

Second.....I just finished MMA:Boxing, minus the cardio burst. I'm headed out in 30 minutes for a 5 mile run with my running group so I figured I'd save that bit of cardio energy for the run.

Third...last night my 13 yo DS asked if I knew what a plank was! :D HA! Absolutely, I know, son! He said they were timed in their Fitness class and that he hit the 2 min mark and he challenged me to a plank-off. Oh, boy, you have NO idea who you're dealing with, do you? LOL So last night, both my boys and my BFF's son and I held our plank-off. My younger son was out first, at the 1 min mark, older son out at about 2:15-ish. BFF's son (who is 8, mind you) gave me a run for my money and he gave in around 4:20. I held on till about 5:10. lol TAKE THAT, BOYS!

In case I don't get back online today, Merry Christmas to everybody!!!

ITA Gayle, the leg conditioning exercises in LBB shocked me with how much they pained me and I had DOMS the next day too! Now you are going to make me take out my boss gym timer and see how long I can hold a plank for! I don't know if I should thank you for this or not! :p Holding it for 5+ minutes is quite impressive! Good job! :D Yes, we certainly ARE better off then most but we sure do work for it!!!

So I did IMAX2 in full this morning plus standing obliques holding 3# DB's from criss cross cardio and the core on the floor segment from BBC S&B. This time though I did not do side planks since I had just done oblique work. I held the regular elbow plank position thru the first oblique plank and then switched to straight arm for the other side. Great work out. Doing IMAX2 again was so much fun but I swear some of those blasts just NEVER get any easier!

PS...I am working today until 3pm. BOOH. Anyone else?

Sorry about having to work today, Wendy. BOO indeed. I'm off with the kids now till school starts again on Jan 3 or 4th...can't remember which. It's one of the advantages of working in the school district.

My run was nice, but slower than normal. I used to have a problem with I ended up with a slower-than-normal pace, but I've learned to just take it in stride (no pun intended, lol). 5 miles and it was really nice outside. Quads loosened up pretty quickly, but NOW...well, let's just say I'll be stretching throughout the day! :)

I hear ya Gayle. It's hard to except when we are moving a little slower or lifting a little lighter then we are accustomed to but even Cathe says it changes depending on soooo many factors and to roll with it. I'm workin' on bein' okay with that sorta stuff too! :) Enjoy your frequent stretches! My quads and buns could use that too as well as some more movement but it's not gonna happen until I get outta here later....

christmas eve workout

quick check in for today,I did 4day spilt kickbox and legs. that was the 1st time i've done this workout and it was a great one. great sweat during cardio.

have a GREAT CHRISTMAS EVE EVERYONE!!!!

ALOHA!

Merry Christmas

Hi all. Not sure if I'll see any of you online today. I couldn't sleep past 4:15, so the question of whether I should workout or not today answered itself. I figured the kids wouldn't be up for a while, so I hit the lair. (they're still sleeping, btw, and it's just about 7am now. lol). High Reps DONE! I think I might bundle up later today while everybody naps and go for a nice walk. Nothing big, just to get outside and some fresh air. We'll see.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to everybody!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS LADIES

GOOD AFTERNOON! CHECKING IN with bootcamp cardio. for a 30 minute workout its intense!

Gail,I e-mailed you about spreet sheets for workouts,I hope you don't mind. I saw your post to another gal who was looking for some. I've been wanting something like that for a while. did You create them on your own?

Hi, Teri. I just sent the sheets to you. Yes, I make my own....it's actually pretty easy in Word (Excel is easy too, but for some reason I prefer Word for these).

I slept till 9:45 this morning. 9:45!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek: Guess I was tired, hugh? I didn't join my running group at 7:30, but I had a feeling that I'd sleep right thru it. THAT doesn't happen too often!

We're getting a BLIZZARD today, forecasted to start sometime this afternoon. We're headed out in about 30 minutes for DS' basketball tournament game, but I'm fine driving in this weather. I have a Mazda that I LOVE and I've had it for 13 years and it handles really well. It's all those hi-up SUVs and mini vans that worry me! ;) Anyway.........

If you haven't guessed it yet, today I'm taking the scheduled REST DAY!!!!!! First one in about 16 days, so I'm due.

BBL

Good Afternoon.

Y'day was a rest day for me and today was INTENSITY Max premix + my own abs...100 reps of mixed up/lower/oblique. Short n sweet and ENOUGH after all that dang cardio I did! :p

Good job ladies who worked out on Christmas Day. The only way I would have had time was to get up super early and THAT was not happening. I was up at 7. That was early enough for me! Today I slept until 8am. Not as late you, Gayle but I was tired too and need that little bit extra. Could've slept later but I think it would've started to make me feel worse so I made myself get up. I got in bed at 9:30 and rolled over to go to sleep at 10 so I get plenty of shut-eye. :)

We are also getting the snow storm. Hoping for no work tmrw but I have sick time left and I'm not afraid to use it! ;) I'll have to see what happens!

Guess that's all for now. I'll be back in the morning. I THINK I have MMA: Kickbox on tap for the a.m....:)

thank you

thank you Gayle for the spread sheets, how did you do that on word? I've tried and it never comes out:eek:. 16 days straight thats amazing! yes its a well deserved rest day.

Wendy stay warm tomorrow(or today depends on when you read it):)

I have Intensity tomorrow planned,i'm probably going to do a premix to shake it up.
