Good Morning :)

Today I was up WAY to early! I forgot my yoga was only 45 min. long, and I can shower after the kids go to school today, since I don't work till noon. Oh well, so I'm using my extra time to log on!
I did David Swenson yoga again this week. I really like this yoga practice for so many reasons. Last week I was so inflexable, I am making it my challenge to get back to almost where I was when I was doing yoga daily. Some of the poses, I can't go as deep as I used to. I think I am going to start doing yoga daily. I try and do Cathes stretch max once every 2 weeks (just one session- time constraints) but that is obviously not enough. Anyway, I still enjoyed the yoga.

Tracee- did you rest today, or do yoga?

Marcy- thanks for the recommendations. I ordered the Rael pilates and Kari Andersons workout from deep discounts and got the 2 for the price of 1 at collage. Also, they have free shipping! Do you ever do the Kari Anderson, since it is broken into 2 sections, as just one 20 min. workout sometimes? I liked it because it looked like you could if you were pressed for time, or wanted to use it as an add on.

Good morning ladies!

I did get up and do the Bryan Kest Yoga tape. I enjoyed it and it confirmed what I already knew....I am not flexible. I definitely want to keep doing yoga on a regular basis so I guess I'll be searching the internet for some new dvd's. :)

Can one of you tell me the difference between yoga and pilates? Does pilates incorporate more movement or something?

Deanie - Are you getting lots done this morning since you have all that extra time? Congrats on your good deal at deep discount. Gotta love those bargains.

Marcy - Love your description of your day at work and a trip to the bathroom being your break from the desk. The bathroom is my longest trip of the day other than the parking lot so I can sympathize.

Have a great day ladies.

Good morning,

Today I did one of most dreaded workouts GS Chest & Triceps. It always takes me forever to get through this workout. Need lots of extra rests. Took me an hour and 17 minutes to get through a 48 minute workout between extra rests and changing weights. I still had DOMS in my biceps from Tuesday's workouts and my hips were bothering me a little from yesterday's pilates. I actually did a little better than I thought. Here are my weights for today:

Bench Press - 3 sets 15.5# - 12 reps each (went up .5 pounds) (might go up to 17 pounds next time)
Bench Flies - 3 sets 15.5# - 12 reps each (went up .5 pounds, last 4 reps of last set were tough)
Incline Bench Press - 15.5# 2 sets 12 reps each - (last 2 reps tough on last set; went up .5 pounds)
Incline Flies - 15.5# 2 sets 12 reps each - 2nd set last 4 tough)
Close Grip BBl press - 35# 2 sets 10 reps each - went up 3 pounds; last 2 reps tough on 2nd set; couldn't do 4 bonus reps)
Dips - Did them with 32# bbl in lap (thanks for the suggesion, Deanie)
Dbbl lying extensions: 1st set 10# 8 reps, 2nd set 10# 7 reps triceps shaking at that point)
overhead extensions - 23.5# 12 reps both sets; last 4 tough on 2nd set
Cross body extensions: 10# 12 reps both sets; last 4 tough on 2nd set
Kickbacks: 12# 2 sets 10 reps each

Deanie - I've never done Reach in sections, always the whole thing through which is about an hour. I'm going to try and add more yoga in as well. I definitely don't have as much flexibility as I used to. Used to be able to do full splits, horizontal and vertical, but I'm almost back there again. Flexibility definitely comes back.

Just curious, what's your most dreaded workout?

Have a great day. BBL.

Hi guys,

Tracee- the difference between yoga and pilates is Pilates is core centered and uses breathing differently in the poses. Yoga (like bryan kests') is breath linking movements and also works your entire body. yoga should be a "meditation in movement". Pilates is excersises that use the breath. Personally i much prefer yoga. I always feel so centered and have natural "high" after it. Pilates to me is like dance. I love it, but its work. Plus i've always done some form of dance since i'm 5. so its not really any thing to new.

Marcy- my most dreaded workout is ME!!!! I use the weights Cathe does for the most part (maybe one or two different) and I always feel like my body has been run over by a truck afterwards!!!! Great job with the GS C&T. those cross body extensions get me every time:) I think the dips with the barbell makes it much harder. For some reason, dips are easy for me!? I like C&T now that I've decided to not do all 72 pushups (I can consistantly do them and all on my toes) so I started doing 2 sets of 16 pushups with my feet on the bench with 3 risers on each side. now, for me, I don't dread the pushups. They were just too many! On S&H and PS she doesn't do as many so I wonder why she does so many in GS?

My most dreaded cardio is still MIC. This one always is so hard. How about you guys?

BBL,
Deanie

Hi Deanie:

ME isn't one of my favorites either but MIC hi/lo is still my most dreaded cardio. The step doesn't bother me so much.

I have a question maybe you can answer - I know as you get more fit, you don't burn as many calories during cardio but I've noticed that as I've gotten fit I burn more calories during strength training. Do you find that to be the case?

Marcy

Deanie - thanks for the explanation. I was previewing different workouts at collage and from what I could see I would prefer yoga over pilates too.

I was trying to think of my most dreaded workout but I don't think I dread an entire one. Of the ones that I own I dread parts of certain ones but not the whole thing. I dread certain parts of ME for sure but I like other parts. I used to dread all weight workouts that were standing lower body workouts but I think I've overcome that and started to embrace them.

Yes!!!! I've actually noticed, lately I am hungry all the time. I still eat "clean" as I can, but I am eating more, and my jeans today are very loose!!! And I wasn't even trying to lose weight/inches! (not complaining though) I am thinking of following Debbies rotation when I'm done my rotation (and I'm tacking on a week of recovery) but instead of an imax/body max power circuits a week, just doing the half hour of the imax intervals. So I'm really cutting my cardio time, but upping the intensity. I'm not a big cardio person anyway so that works for me!
