Good Morning Everyone!

Quick check in this morning. S&H bi and tri was good. My arms are already sore! I upped my weights today again which happily surprised me.
Over head press 3 sets 20#
lying extensions 2 sets 8# 1 set 9#
kick backs 8# all 3 sets
dips with 30# barbell on lap!:)

dumbell curls 2sets 15# 1 set 12# (did an extra set of 15#)
hammer curls 2 sets 15# 1 set of 12# (extra set 15#)
barbell curl 1set 30# 2sets 25# did not increase here- my arms were fried!!)
the other excersises I followed Cathe.

For some reason I thought we only did two sets of barbell curls and was not there mentally for the last set- my arms were fried!!! I didn't do the abs from bi/tri instead I did the stability ball abs from B&G and added a bent arm plank for 1 min and a straight arm plank for 1 min. I really wanted to work my abs today!!

Tracee- hope you had a good workout!

Marcy- your pilates workout sounds good! I also like the rest week and yoga and less cardio incorporated in P90X, but I still want to see about an alternate P90X with Cathe.

I guess my post isn't that quick!!:)

Off to the bus- I hope it comes today!
Have a good day,
BBL

Good Morning Deanie and Marcy.

Congrats Deanie on your weight increases! I increased in a few areas but felt fried and sore in my upper body so I think that affected how much I was willing to push myself.

I'll try to remember my exact amounts.

Overhead press - 12# (I really struggle with this exercise and don't see me upping the weights any time soon)
Lying extensions - 2 sets at 8# last set at 5# (I think I only did one set at 8#'s last week)
Kickbacks - 2 sets at 5#, last set at 8#. Last week I did all 3 sets at 5# and really had to mentally push myself to pick up those 8's today. :)

Dumbbell curls - 10#'s for all sets. (same as last week)
Hammer curls - 10#'s for all sets.
Dumbbell curls again since I don't have a barbell - went down to 8#'s.

That's funny Deanie that you went to B&G's for abs because I was thinking about doing the same thing but I ended up not feeling like messing with the dvd's so I just did the S&H abs.

I also like the idea of the P90X style of more weight training and less cardio. I'm too attached to Cathe and my money to try someone new though. :D

Hope you both have a great day. I hope I get to bed earlier tonight. I haven't been getting to sleep until around 11:00 lately and I think it's really starting to affect my morning workouts.

Good morning Deanie and Tracee:

Deanie - Sounds like you had a great workout. Congrats on the extra sets. I'll have to try the barbell in my lap next time on dips. I love the stability ball abs in B&G. I think it's my favorite ab workout right now. Great work on the extra planks. You seemed to have a lot of energy today.

Tracee - Good work on upping your weights, especially on the last set. Sometimes its amazing what we can do if we just try.

I did Rael Pilates 27 Advanced today. I really liked it. It was 47 minutes and it went by very quickly. I still have DOMS in my biceps from yesterday. Pilates definitely works the core really well. Rael was a great instructor and was always talking about proper form. There were 3 girls doing the moves and occasionally they would show him doing the moves and some more advanced moves. I did some of the advanced moves. There were 27 poses in all. There were some 1 arm side planks which were a little tough. My right elbow gave out on the last few. He really makes you concentrate on your breathing. I've also done Hilary Burnett's Advanced Pilates which I really liked as well. I guess Pilates is catching on with me.

Have a great day ladies.
BBL.

Tracee- great job on the weights today. I meant to ask earlier- were you sore from DM cardio yesterday? Last night my legs and especially my calves were getting some good DOMs. this morning, not so bad, but I was still glad to just be working arms.

Marcy- your pilates workout sounds good. Where did you get it? I think I may shoot over to collage video.com and see if they have it there. I only have one pilates workout that I like and is challenging, and thats about 10 years old, and from the pilates institute in NM. When I bought it, no one ever heard of Pilates!! LOL. I've tried Stott, and The Method pilates, for mat work, and I'm not thrilled with them.

Hi Deanie!

I got both my pilates workouts from Deep Discount DVD. I got them during the sale but I think they were both under $10.00. But I think Collage has them too (although more expensive) but at least you can return them if you don't like them. I also have Breakthru Pilates Plus by Tracy York and Michelle Dozois which is pretty good although I haven't done it in awhile. It was pretty tough the last time I did it but that was a long time ago. I'll have to dig it out again and see how I do with it. It was a mixture of pilates, ballet and yoga. If you remember, I also recommended Reach by Kari Anderson which was also a fusion type workout of ballet, pilates and yoga and was challenging. One thing I like about these type of workouts is you can do them barefoot and no equipment required. It's so nice when I don't have to drag out all my equipment.

Marcy

Okay!:) Writing these all down! I'm not always sure about the fusion stuff, I'm kind of a "purist" but if collage has them, maybe I can view them and see. Thanks so much-
PS- I'm right there with you on the equiptment thing!
Deanie

Hi again.

Deanie - no, my legs weren't sore after yesterdays DM but I didn't do the whole premix like you did so I'm sure that's why. :) I'm always glad to be working upper body over lower body!!

I'm going to try to get up and do yoga tomorrow. (Thanks Marcy for the tape). It's going to be a tough battle between taking it as a rest day and doing the yoga. I really do want to give yoga and/or pilates a try though. I listened to the lady who sells the pilates machine on QVC the other day and she was saying how much pilates improves your posture. A lady called in and said how she sits at a desk all day and was starting to get that hump in her upper back. It got me worried because that is what I do all day...sit at a desk.;(

Marcy - I would love to see a picture of your video/dvd workout collection. It must be massive.

Tracee

Tracee - I do the same thing, sit at a desk all day. At least I have a little bit of a walk to the bathroom! I always have to keep from slouching. I'm not good at putting pictures on the computer. I have my DVDs in all different places but I've started to keep a record. I know I have under 100, but I'm getting very close. Well, maybe with P90X, I'm just about at 100. I really have to slow down. I've been getting some SASE's from VFers but I've been trying to get rid of my old stuff. Can't wait to get my own DVD cabinet!
