Damage Control . . . Week of 2/20

Still no one on today. Maybe I can get caught up on personals.

Lori--Just so you don't think I'm totally crazy, I should probably clarify what I meant about the electricity and the massage! :p If it were a matter of no power or no water, I'd definitely choose power and water over a massage!! Any day. As it is, our back up systems almost always manage the outages so that our "normal life" isn't affected. It's only occasionally that we have big outages that really mess with us. But . . . that said, what I MEANT and didn't say clearly was . . . if we have to deal with the inconvenience of power and water shortages, at least we have the up-side of cheap massages. :) Doesn't totally balance, but it provides a little bit of payback. Sounds like you have fully recovered from your weekend and are back to your crazy-long mish-mosh workouts! :p

LauraT--Hurray! for your productive weekend. I LOVE getting stuff done. And yes, 7 weeks is not much for getting-stuff-done for our trip! :p Hurray for your clean eating yday and today. Sorry about the knee. I always have issues with my knees if my IT band is tight. I also sometimes have issues if I go heavy after not going heavy for a while. Almost as if I need a light warm-up set before the heavy set. Hope you figure out what your issue is. Knees are NOT something to mess with. :confused:

Wendy--Glad DH had success in AC. Hope you get over whatever crud you've got and that it doesn't progress! No worries about the missed workouts and indulgent eating over the weekend. We all NEED those down times!

Diana--I hope your loads of water and cardio have helped you get back on track for your weigh in. I also hope the new shoes help with your foot issues. Your boot camp circuit class sounds fun.

Still on a "high" from that run this morning. :D
 
Happy Hump Day,

I'm going into the office today instead of working from home, my normal Wednesday routing. There is a lot of activity and I need to be there.

This morning will be BM2 cardio blast. I'm debating weighing in today or tomorrow. I'm up about .5 this morning but it may just be worth having a gain this week and start fresh tomorrow. Just mind games yah know.

LauraR-congrats on your 30 min run...no walking. WOO HOO!!! You followed a program and are reaping the benefits! Have you checked out Cathe's February rotation..it's a lower body blast rotation but Cathe always keeps her rotations well balanced. I'm actually considering doing it.

LauraT-I definitely hear yah on missing the heavy leg training. Nothing really gets the hamstrings like hamstring curls. I haven't actually been to my gym near work since Nov/Dec. Now that my foot is healed I really need to make it a priority to hit the legs with heavy training at least once a week and use Cathe for secondary leg training. I want that definition too. Nice job on the clean eating, I'm back on track too.:p

Wendy-Oh No...PG. Whatever will be will be! I'm sure that's not it, but if it is....I want you to have a girl! Two of my nieces recently had babies and they each had a boy. We have a lot of boys in my family...we need some girls to even the score.

Lori-you must be busy training someone this morning. Can't wait to hear what kind of crazy mish mosh you came up with for today.

Good stuff! I feel like myself again. Whatever was wrong with me passed during the day y'day and I was left just feeling very tired. I laid down in my bed at 6:45 with my laptap and the tv on and hung out til 9 when I shut out the light and went to sleep. Still didn't want to get up at 4:30 but I did anyway and I'm glad. The longer you put it off, the harder it is to get re-started! Tmrw is dreaded Disc 9 again! :eek:

I think my issues were related to exhaustion from the weekend as well as the onset of TTOM which I actually started to see signs of y'day so no baby girl! Sorry Diana! LOL

Morning ladies .. crazy insane at the asylum .. UGH ... is it still a full moon?????? yikes!! NO DOMS from heavy weight .. WTH??? BUT .. DOMS from my mish mosh class: shoulders, lats, obliques and calves :D I did some side plank work I havent done in a while b/c of my shoulder .. so far so good (knock on wood) .. they are sore .. but not hurting!! :)

LauraR - WTG on the run ... woot woot!!! I knew what you were talking about on the massage .. ya a cheap massage would be NIIICEEEE!!!!;)

Wendy - glad you are feeling better .. and glad it is not the PG thing (I think that is a good thing) .. :p .. it was prbly just exhaustion ... and if the casinos are like MS casinos FULL OF SMOKE .. could have something to do with it!!

DI - ok .. you are sounding like the people on BL .. LOL .. manipulating body and scale weigh ins .. LOL .. but hey whatever works to motivate you go for it!! :p Yes working legs is a MUST for that great definition .. about 1 time a week is good for me too .. but nothing like that HEAVY leg curl and extension that gives you the nice CUTS!!!;)

Lori -my lululemon stuff is due to arrive today :eek: {{{ doing the happpy dance }}} I cant wait :D .. I will let you know how I like it .. I wasnt sure on the sizes .. b/c I was really in between the 6 and 8 but all the comments said to buy larger .. so I am HOPING I made the right choice .. we will see today .. woot woot!

Ok .. gotta jet ... no class tonight ... I think a walk at lunch is in order it is just too pretty out 70 degrees and sunshine :cool: then tonight I may rest .. or I may go and hit STS TB ... we will see what the rest of the day brings on!! have a great one!:D

LauraT--Yay for new workout clothes. From my experience, new workout clothes make you jump higher! :p

Diana--Yeah, I saw that rotation, and it looks amazing. I'd love to try it. Crunch time before furlough is not the right time, though. Way too time consuming. Also, I want to do my runs. But I was drooling over it when she posted it! :D
 
Hey Girls,

Can't believe its my first time here today. I did hardly any studying today. I tried but wasn't interested at all and started getting lazy! So I opted to workout! Big surprise there! I planned on studying after lunch and I didn't do that either. Soooo, I should be able to buckle down tomorrow and get a nice bit done. I am going to get my workout over with early and the only other workout I have tomorrow (in the day) is at 1:00.

My workout was Kari Andersons abs, 4DS shoulders and bics, 6 miles on the TM in 50 mins and GS legs. Oh...i think that dvd is one of Cathes toughest leg workouts. Those low pulse lunges are hard!

Diana** Did you weigh in? .5 isn't to bad after being a bad girl;) There is my mish mosh for today. I think my legs will be sore tomorrow, or atleast I hope! LOL

LauraR** That's funny that you explained that! LOL I forgot all about that. I was thinking "what is she saying". Can you some how keep up your current rotation while adding a extra day of legs in there?

Laura** How is it?? Does it fit? I buy a size 6 in that stuff. I know a 6 in the tops are good for me but I could probably use a 4 in the bottoms. In the meantime the 6 bottoms fit well so I just keep ordering 6's. I can't wait to hear what you think of it!

Wendy** So ya thought you were with child huh? LOL I can only imagine what was going through your head. I think I would crawl into my bed and cover my head with the sheets! LOL I couldn't handle it right now. I think DS is getting harder to deal with all the time. He keeps asking for things...then something else...then something else...drives me crazy!!!!

Tomorrows workout is just gonna be cardio and abs. Nothing exciting tomorrow! Sorry girls! LOL

This morning's workout was B&G. I did the regular, original version (no premix, in other words). Usually I want to cry through that workout, but with all the talk from folks that enjoy working legs, I decided to be tough and really umph it through the workout today. I used 5s (like she does) but a 30 pound bar (hers is 35). I determined to use good form, lunge deep, and not cheat. For the most part I did well. I had to pause a couple times to get the heart rate down when the cardio factor took over. And on the 2nd set of one-legged lunges, I used no weight because I really wanted to sink into the reps without cheating and knew that even the 5 pounds would prevent me really going deep.

The place I'm really feeling it this afternoon . . . hip flexors! They really need to increase in strength and flexibility. They are often my limiting factor. I have been working hard to improve their strength and range of motion, and I've come a long ways. But they are still tight and weak. I'm hoping to keep improving.

Overall, celebrating a great workout.

Up early this morning and I didn't really care to get out of bed:confused: I am debating working out now or after I drop DS off at the sitters. I will probably wait. I didn't realize that it was 8 already.

I have some nice DOMS going on from yesterday's leg work. I knew I would b/c when I was in bed last night I could feel it creeping in.

LauraR** Nice workout. I was lunging pretty deep yesterday as well. I am starting to enjoy leg work more and more. I use to avoid it.

Morning Ladies,

I tried to post last night, but it lost my post when I opened the thread to read through some older posts....from Wendy and Laura on how to insert quotes..ggggrrrr. Anyway, I skipped my weigh in and did Heavy Leg training at the gym and will weigh in today instead. Unlike Laura, I had to use a bit lighter weights than normal. I've definitely lost some strength and need to build it back up. I didn't want to be so sore that I couldn't do anything today.

Hamstring Curls 4X12 70/75/75/75 Prev. wt 85
Squats 4X12 95/95/115/115 Prev wt 115

Lori-will be weighing in today. I'm sure your w/o will look something like 5 miles on the treadmill, 20 min on the bike, HIIT...all of them, and bootcamp!:p

LauraR-nice job with B&G. For some reason, that is not one of my favorite w/o's although I do like ab work! I think eliminating the weight and doing the exercise perfectly is the best way to see improvements. Once the form is perfected you can start adding the weight. Definitely stretch your hip flexors on a regular basis.

Wendy-how did you like Tabata Supreme! btw-I still haven't picked these w/o's up but plan to.

LauraT-I have some leg doms from heavy leg training yesterday. I definitely need to do heavy legs at least once a week...and should see some results in about 6 weeks.

Lori:: Oh girl you don't need to tell ME about DS driving you crazy. My DS has MASTERED it! It's an art form for him now! :eek::p I would NOT have been happy if I were pg. I would have dealt with it ofcourse but it would have taken a while to wrap my mind around having another child. :confused:

LauraR:: Oooooh B&G in full as produced! Now THAT'S a work out! :eek: Good job keeping up with Cathe!!! I can keep up with her weight choices in the work out but it hurts me and I pay for it...in a GOOD way ofcourse! ;)

LauraT:: Casinos in NJ are primarily non smoking. Only allowed to smoke at small banks of machines disbursed thru out casino so it's not bad. However, the couple we spent a lot of our time with this weekend are pretty much chain smokers so that could be part of it.

Diana:: Good job with BM2 cardio. I unearthed my old hr monitor a while back. I keep meaning to get batteries for it and start using it again. I'm curious.
 
Ahhhhhh....I took a little cat nap this morning:) I had to. It was either that or this afternoon and I have a feeling this afternoon would be a better time to get some studying in. So now I am on my 3rd cup of coffee since 6 a.m but I had to have something after my nap. Hopefully I can make it through the rest of the way without yawning.

I'm not sure if I should deal with that early morning rise situation or not. Here is the deal....when I took this lady on, she informed me that she doesn't have to go to work until 10 a.m. So even if we had to workout between 8-9 some mornings, that was good for her. She then changed that to 6:15 some mornings and this also interfered with one girl who was off for a couple of weeks due to a bad back. And I dealt with that. When I was over to her house on Tues she says that we don't need to workout on Thurs until 7:40....I'm like whaaa?:eek: Then she says "Well, howabout 6:40". I'm good with that. Then last night she sends me a text that tells me her weightloss at ww's that night and "see you at 6:15"! It for one confuses me cause I'm wondering what day we decided to workout at 6:40...and then two...did we not agree on 6:40. I told her today that she keeps changing her mind but she told me not to pay any attention to her. I think once this week is over for her she will go back to 6:40 b/c when I leave her house, I drop her daughter off at school. I can't believe that it takes someone from 7:15-10 to get ready for work! She likes to have atleast 90 mins to 2 hours to get ready for work:confused: So should I suck it up b/c she is paying me OR should I tell her that 6:45 is good for me cause to be honest, getting up before 6 kills me some mornings.

Wendy** Oh...DS never listens to me. I asked DH yesterday if it was just me or was being more difficult then normal. DH agreed cause he spent the whole weekend with him. He likes to play with the phones now and leave them off of the hook. Could be an hour later before I realize that the phone is off the hook and Lord knows who he called. Probably Hong Kong or something. As much as I hate leaving him, I think a week away will be a nice break for all involved.

Diana** Nope...Im not going super crazy today:p Or atleast I don't plan on it:D Nice workout yesterday and I hope you have a good weighin!

I will bbl! I am going to read a couple pages of my books before I head down for a run. I really wish it was summer already! Oh and my last piece of lululemon should arrive today:( When will I get to order MOREEEEEEEEEEE!!??

FRIDAY EVE ...woot woot

Morning ladies!!!

Well I went home and I did STS TB .. and it kicked my butt .. I upped the weight on everything .. and DOMS: butt, shoulders, back .. a bit into the hammies and bis :D Ya I like it!! ;) Today will be a power walk at lunch - then tonight will be plyo class w/plank work and core and yoga stretch!! :)

Lori .. I LOOOOVE the lulullemon .. WHAT HAVE U DONE TO ME!! Now I will report how the WEAR tonight b/c I brought the shorts and top to wear tonight in class. The 8 top fits PERFECT - and was surprised at the support in the built in bra .. plyo class will really test that tonight :p.. now the bottoms .. they fit .. but kinda roomy a bit .. so I prbly could have gone down to size 6 .. but then again depending on how they wash up .. I would rather have a bit bigger and time to wear and shrink than too tight and killing me .. ?? .. I kinda figured I would be in between those two sizes in the lower half .. a 6 may be to short .. b/c the 8 is just perfect length ... if I do drop to a 6 may have to order long length ..?? How do they wash up???? it says not to use fabric softner really?? do you???

LauraR - I LOVE working legs .. but like I told Di - we usually love working what we dont really need help on .. and hate working what we usually need working on!! :p I was surprised I could do a lot heavier on STS TB last night on the legs .. it felt great and strong tho!!!!

Di - GEESH girl .. you are hefting a LOT heavier weight than me .. I work the extensions at 50# for both legs and 30# single legs and ham. curls same weight - the leg press at 210# // and calves at 110# ...so big difference .. LOL.. and only a 10# drop .. no worries at all there girlie!!!

Wendy - man I wish it were nonsmoking in MS .. there is one casino that has ONE floor that is nonsmoking .. but the machines are not played as much so they dont hit as often .. my eyes, nose, throat and everything hurt after a day in a smoke filled casino!!!

OK .. gotta jet .. have a great day .. it is pretty here .. today to get to 75 .. but rain moving in tonight .. and tmrw!! :( but I am not fussing b/c we have had 2 weeks of GORGEOUS weather :cool: have a great one!:D
 
Laura** I don't wash mine in fabric softener and I don't put it in the dryer either. Some stuff is preshrunk and you can throw it in the dryer but Im always afraid. So I just hang it up. I listen to what the tags say b/c it is to expensive to mess with. Some people complain of piling and stuff but I have never had issues. Probably depends on if your dumb enough to wash it with a load of towels! LOL Let me know how it goes tonight.

My workout was HR abs, 5 miles on the TM and 10 mins on the bike.

LauraT...That's how I felt after spending time with my friends. We were in their car a few times and I was dying by the time we got out. They would chain smoke in the car with the car windows only cracked. It wasn't enough ventilation! Even when I smoked I couldn't stand a car or room that will filled with it! :eek:

Lori...Yeup! Sounds like a week away from DS is just what the doctor ordered! ;) As for the situation with your one client..think of it this way..you are running a business and businesses have hours. You need to come up with the hours that your business will run. Open from this time to that time and you need to stick with it. Tell your clients you do not except any appointments prior to whatever time in the morning you are comfortable with. If they really want you, they will find a way. Especially this lady! Sounds like she is just taking advantage!!! Decide when your earliest appointment will be and tell her and that's that. JMHO ofcourse. :)
 
Lunch walk/run done but eeeooouch

OK .. #1 was a beautiful walk/run at lunch :cool: #2 the lululemon short performed EXCELLENTLY .. awesome I could feel them move a bit so a smaller size may be in order next time if they dont shrink #3 - my STUPID QUAD is cramping or I pulled it or something .. weird .. it started at end of walk/run .. started like a cramp .. then I slowed down .. then it got worse .. thank goodness it was at end and I wasnt far from work .. then got in and it hurts to touch it .. WTH???? I cant figure it out .. ????? any ideas .. I have had pulls, tears, pops, but this I didnt feel anything .. just gradually came on like a cramp that wont stop .. ??????:mad: It is aching as I sit here in my chair :( :confused::mad: WTH?????????

Lori - thx - I usually wash all my workout wear on delicate seperately - cold only - and hang them up but I do add fabric softner .. so guess I wont on these!!! thanks!! I can now say I know what you are talking about on 1/2 size .. I need 6 1/2 in the lower body .. LOL .. I know the top said preshrunk .. maybe that is why it fits to a T ..??? but I am bigger on my upperbody too sooooo???? we will see .. will let you know how both peices do tonight but so far I AM LOVING IT!
OH and BTW .. ITA w/Wendy on the training .. great advice!!!
 
LauraT/Lori...Laundry...UGH. I hate doing laundry so much. I'd rather clean toilets! :mad: I've gotten to the point where I barely separate anything anymore except for towels and new clothes if I fear the colors might run in the first wash or 2. Other then that I have gotten to the point where I just grab an armful out of my hamper and toss it all in the wash in cold water and it's done. :rolleyes: Anything I can do to get it done as quickly and painlessly as possible is what I am all about these days! My mom, OTOH, loves to do laundry. I have no idea why....? :confused:
 
Hi ladies,

I probably shouldn't be posting now because I've had a couple of drinks. I had a poopy day and opted to drink instead of going to bootcamp. I'm not going to worry about it right now though. :p

I did go to my weigh in and was up a bit, but not as much as I lost last week so I'm still at an overall loss! I was aware of the increase and am happy to put it behind me and move on to a new week.

I went shopping at lunch and bought myself an Ipod Touch! I can't wait to try it out.

I sent an email to Jacque but have not heard back from her yet. Hope all is okay.

Lori-ITA w/Wendy. You run a business and have business hours. Draw the line and don't let her take advantage of you! hhhmmm, your workout must've seemed pretty boring today.

LauraT-glad you love your new w/o clothes! I have the super wide hips and heavy weights help with that. Not sure why really, but it does. I may be getting back to running soon too. One of my coworkers wants to do a half marathon in April/May time frame. If we find one to run, I need to get busy training.

Wendy-I hate to say this, but I may be bailing on Meso 3. I have one week of Meso 2 left to go. I don't have the necessary equipment to do Meso 3 at full intensity. I would like to give running a try and do some of Cathe's other rotations. I'm really not sure where to go from here, but know I need a rotation to follow. btw, I tried to find Supreme 90 at Target but they didn't have it. No worries, I'm definetly on the the hunt for this series.
