** DAMAGE CONTROL....SATURDAY **

Cathlete
Good Morning!:)

I am up early to get my workout in before work. What a nice weekend....only one shift to do:) But then I am back again Mon night!:( It may not be as bad as i thought though b/c I think one of the other employees and my boss are going to work something out.....which means, maybe I won't have to work with my boss all the time:D

We had a nice evening yesterday. We went to my SIL's for pizza, wings and CABS:eek: I know, I know...bad girl! But I keep telling myself that when STS starts, the clean eating as to start;) The nice thing was, DS was playing. I didn't have to take care of him the whole time. He was either in the room with our neices or out in the kitchen. He had a good night as well and we let him stay up later then usual, which means he will sleep later....but thats no advantage to me, now is it!?:rolleyes:

Im going to do a run today mixed in with HST. I am hoping to get a good workout in so I have to get that started. I also have my STS users guide and a running mag packed to take to work with me, lots of reading to do! I am so tempted to do a marathon this year! I am trying to find one but I don't want to have to travel to far to do one. And I will probably have to take a plane ride:confused: I know that the Ottawa marathon can qualify me for the Boston marathon which I think I would do if given the chance and I had already ran a marathon. Part of the problem is finding the time to train!

Wendy** Have a good trip! So sorry to hear about your news yesterday! Did you see that coming at all? What does your DH do? Hopefully it won't be to hard for him to find a job. As for yourself, I think good paying jobs are getting harder to come by! I looked in the paper the other day as well just to see what was there and there wasn't much that paid over $10 an hour:confused: No can do!

Diana** You must have been so ticked when you left that apt with nothing done! I guess they couldn't help it though. I think my friend had something similar to that procedure one time. Her spots were more like age spots even though she was only in her late 30's. She was very happy with the results!

Jacque** So how many marathons have you done? And how many monthes of training am I going to need? Half of my problem is this is a small town, so I will have to either run out the highway:confused: then turn around and come back. OR run around this town 2-3 times! The Ottawa marathon is in May, i think that may be to soon. The furthest I have ever ran was 20k....thats not true, I did HM on my TM last yr:D

Laura** Sometimes I wonder...are we PIA coworkers as well?;) I bet I was yesterday when i called in sick. Our problem is, there is no one to call anymore! LOL My boss probably wouldn't have wanted to pay me to stay home and pay someone else time and half to cover my shift! There are a few things on the go for March month, so hopefully his whining will stop.

I will bbl!
Gotta get this workout started!

Lori:)

Good Morning Lori and all who follow.

I am super early to get in my "quiet coffee time" before I have to run around getting all of the last minute crap ready for vacation. We have to be out the door at 8am. I still have to pack up DS' things as well. Just never got the chance last night!

Jacque/Lori: Now that my DH got laid off, do you still want to know what he does for a living, Jacque? LOL ;) He actually has a good career. He's a journeyman (sometimes foreman) in the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He's a pipefitter by trade specifically. God bless him-he has been working steadily with the exception of a span of about one week since he got in the union at some point before we were married (so over 6 years ago...probably closer to 8 years ago). This is only his second lay off. In a union trade like this you have to be ready for anything. Guys get laid off every day. We've been very fortunate though. In these tough economic times I guess I am not totally surprised that this happened. I guess perhaps it was just a matter of time....Anyway, the way it works is that he goes back to the union hall and gets put on the "out of work list" and then waits to be called back. They call back the out of work guys in order of lay off so if there are several (possibly up to HUNDREDS!) of guys who were laid of prior to him and still aren't working then they will be called back first. He could potentially have a while to wait...Ofcourse we are hoping that doesn't happen! *fingers and toes crossed!*

Jacque: My knee(s) are not normally bothersome during runs. They will ache during much longer runs like the ones I do when I am training for a longer distance race but otherwise I tend to be pretty pain free. I imagine that this was just a fluke cause my knee seems to be fine now. It's certainly not an overuse injury. I'm only running 1x per week right now! Wow, all of that allergy testing and they've come up with NOTHING!? How frustrating! I hope they find a solution for you. My BF has mega sinus issues and basically she just medicates and has to deal with it. It can get pretty bad. She complains often. :( 1200 cals for a whole day!? OMG I think I would pass out from hunger! LOL

Lori: I am keeping my fingers crossed for you that you don't have to work with your boss after all! Have fun reading through the STS manual! :)

Diana: Why can't you go to work on Monday and Tuesday and cancel the vacation days? I've never heard of anyone not being able to do that if their plans change. Love reading about your meltdown classes. I think they would kill me. LOL

Laura: Hope you survived welfare check day at work y'day! LOL So tell us...what bodypart is sore today? I love reading about your DOMS! It's like you are in a constant state of soreness!! LOL

Guess that's it for me. No work out today but I've packed my stuff so I'll be ready to take on Burn Circuit 1 with the bands tmrw at some point! :D

If I can't pop back in before I leave, have a great weekend, great week and I'll "see" you all next weekend!!!!;)

Later Babes!!!!

Hey Girls:)

I managed to do 3.5 miles on the TM and 4 seg of HST. If I don't do anything tonight I may get another small run in. We will see what I am in the mood for!

Trying to decide if I should start STS in the morning...or on Mon? Doesn't really matter I guess. I would just like to get some really healthy food in the house before I start! My cupboards aren't to bad, I just need some leafy stuff and chicken breast.

Wendy** Sucks that you don't know how long that list is! I don't think anyone is surprised anymore when they find out that they are laid off. As soon as I came to work today the mechanic told me that he is next to go! My boss told him yesterday. I know I am safe for this month, atleast. Lets hope it picks up so that it doesn't get any worse...good grief:confused: Again, enjoy your trip! Im sure you deserve a good break!

I have most of my tax stuff together. Its the first yr in a few that I have wanted to get my return done! I just finished paying about $1600 to the govt...they ain't getting anymore of my money! I had enough taken out that I should be safe this yr and hopefully I will get a fair bit back...just in time for FL!

BBL!
Lori:)

Hiya ladies !

Lori - How wonderful that last night went so well with DS. Maybe it is the beginning of his turning point into independence? I will keep my fingers crossed for you so you can train for your marathon ! :p Then big LOL from me: you asked how many marathons I have run? Well, this ol' lady has only done one race and it was a 10K last year when I turned 50 just to say I could do it. Only "trained" for a few weeks but had done some good mileage approx 4 months prior. I have never been a runner per se, just like to run when I am in good enough condition. Actually with my metabolism changes I have been experimenting for just over a year to try to find out what is going to work other than eating only 1200 very super clean cals on a daily basis cuz I'm too much of a foodie and CAB lover to do that the rest of my life ! So after some great months of running once I got a treadmill over a year ago, I have not run much at all - but when I do and don't have knee or hip pains, I adore it just as much as the rest of you do. I just wish I could get more done around the house to leave a little more time for exercise. Haven't figured that one out yet - but it is my goal for the year along with STS ! :D

You are a running machine and I definitely think you can do it ! Remember the last long race you did last year. You did great ! I may start switching one of the cardio suggestions from STS with a run each week - just need to get back into the groove of working out consistently and, as of today it will be 2 weeks of a good schedule. I think I may be getting there.

Wendy - I surely felt like sticking my foot in my mouth after I heard about DH yesterday ! And to make things even a bit more interesting, my DH had a plumbing business for about 10 years - never in a union - and now is the underground manager for a local commercial plumbing business. I guess he pretty much has the same career except he and his crews dig ditches and holes with the big boy equipment to put in sewers, grease traps, etc. They are slow, not getting paid for time off (no holiday pay for TDay or XMas) and had some short weeks. But, thankfully, they are hanging in there for now. DH does collect some sort of unemployment doesn't he? After all, that is what the union dues are supposed to be for aren't they? Will keep the fingers crossed that things pick up soon. I think they will be on the way to a slow turn around in the next few months at least.

OK ladies - off to do #6 - Legs. The one that Laura said caused her 4 days of "clown walking". Diana - how did you fare after the workout yesterday?

BBL to see what the weekend haps are . . .

Bye the way Lori, saw your post about eating plans on the OD forum. I have P90X and could forward info to you.

Also have BFFM. Another thing I like to do is check out the post on the rotations forum because Debbie (freaky) answers others posts about the same type of a thing: calorie input, clean foods and macros. She typically answers questions over there pretty regularly and I've pulled some great info from other posts.

Debbie also posts her own menus as well as do her buddies on the Hardcore checkin. Some great info as most of those ladies lift pretty heavy and seem to be quite health conscious and informed.

Let me know if you want me to email you anything I have.

Have you check out Runner's World website yet? They also have nutrition ideas and plans for runners.

Hi Ladies,

We went to my niece's first state playoff game last night. They are still in the running since they won. This morning Jerod had his last basketball game. They were behind until the second half of the game when the kids finally woke up. We won the game by 9 points.

This afternoon is Jerod's end of season basketball party. Of course it's at a pizza place... I guess I could try to stick to the salad bar.... likes that's going to happen.

It doesn't look like I will have time to workout today. Oh well, I can always to MIC tomorrow. That one's a toughie...even for this cardio junkie. I'm so relieved when the step section finally starts.

Not much DOMs to report from legs yesterday. I was expecting to be very sore. I feel like my legs were worked, but they are not sore today.

Wendy-I lost my post from yesterday. It tends to happen when I have 2 windows open. I'm so sorry Sal lost his job. Hopefully he gets some kind of severance to help you make it through until something else comes along. Have a great time on vacation!!!

Lori-I followed a 16 week marathon training program that consisted of 4 weekly runs per week. I downloaded it from a website. I'll take a look around and send you the link. There is no doubt in my mind that you could do a marathon.

Jacque-Not sure why my legs aren't sore today, I sure thought they would be. Hope you like disc 6, it has some "new moves" in it that seem to be very effective. I also did the bonus section at the end with the bands and ankle weights. Good Luck:rolleyes:

Lori-I used Hal Higdon's novice training guide. He also has intermediate and advanced plans.

http://www.halhigdon.com/marathon/Mar00index.htm

I saw your post on the OD and can answer some questions as I did train for a marathon (never ran it). The program I followed only had 1 long run per week on the weekend. As long as you can get in your long run each week, the other weekly runs would fit into your normal workout schedule. Most runners do not run the entire marathon, and the training will have you add in walking here and there. I found as I started running over 10 miles that I enjoyed those few walking breaks. For energy, I used these little beans, similar to gummy bears as they set better in my stomach than the liquids did. I think they were made by cytomax.
Hope that helps a bit.

Hey ladies ...

Disc 12 done!!!!!:Dend of meso 1 ... wooooooohooooooo ... now i get an entire week off from weights .. still have my classes .. but will try to keep the weight to minimum. Disc 12 was tough .. she arranged it differently .. and of course the weight uppped .. YIKES ... the one leg dead lifts and the paperplate stuff is for sure what is making me so sore .. didnt think I would make it thru the one legged dead lifts ... did the bonus too .. ouchie!! Then we did the no equiptment abs .. that is a burner for sure!!

Jaqcue .. ysty was a night mare .. I was so ill when I got home ... and I blew up about PIA .. she made the comment she was "making up" the time off for Fri this weekend ..when no one is around .. ???? WTF??? I may have overstated my disgust to my boss.. but come on ...he needs to "grow a pair" .. and tell PIA she can not pick and choose what she is gonna do .. I mean the girl has 4 1/2 weeks of vacation .. and she is "making up time" .. and no one has to verify it .. no work to show for it ??? I dont think soooooo .. gggrrrrrrr!!!! Hey let me know what you think of 6 .. I know I am not a whimp .. and I give our legs H### in class .. but these are different exercises .. and heavier weight .. w/a focus on the hammies and butt .. OUCHIE

Wendy .. I know you are gone .. but wishing you a safe trip .. and OMG .. hate to hear about Sal ... and right b-4 a Vegas trip?? Man .. talk about really bad timing ... I hope he gets called back soon .. and I hope both of you are able to enjoy yourselves on this vacation!!

Lori .. US PIA's??? OH NO .. no way ... well .. I guess we are TO OUR PIA's .. LOL ... I know mine for sure hates me .. b/c I dont let her get by w/crap ... your night sounded fun last night ... you deserved it!!!

Di .. ok .. you are not sore from 6 ??? You are a BAD-@$$ WOMAN .... or maybe I AM a whimp .. LOL ... my friend in FL .. she tells me all the time she cant believe I am doing my classes AND STS .. and I know that is affecting me .. but NOP disc 6 KICKED MY @$$!!!!! LOL .... can I hire you as my bodyguard??? think you could kick some booty if needed!! LOL

OK .. gotta get myself up and do major clean max .. we had horrible storm this morning .. and tommorrow a chance of snow?? WTH??? this weather .. is CRAZY .. it is 72 right now .. and tommorrow not supposed to get out of the 40's .. ?????

Tonight we are going w/SIL and DB to the Wild Turkey Federation banquet and auction .. food and CABS .. and chances to win guns and prizes .. and buy stuff... they have BEAUTIFUL paintings up for auction .. DH told me this morning .. oh now we arent buying any paintings .. I just laughed and said .. well not unless I see one I just have to have .. he just laughed and said .. oh .. ok!! Gotta love that man!!! have a great one .. will BBL to check in w/you girlies!

Finally done with my legs - some of the exercises remind me of her later leg work - love 'em - they are very effective at producing a burn. I stopped to speak to MIL when the bonus bands started, went back to finish and broke my band ! So now I am off to buy another. :p Think I'm gonna look for some of the versa grips (think that's what they're called - for helping to hold DB's or BB's when your forearms or hands are too weak?).

Diana - how fun to be going to state playoffs. Way back when I played VB in Jr College we made it to state. Ended up losing in the quarter finals - I tore my ankle and was out the last match. Our bench wasn't quite strong enough in the defense area (that was me since I'm a shorty! :p). The rush being that far along is so cool! Hope she does well. Great for Jerod's team. Come backs aren't fun in the beginning, but I love 'em at the end. Guess that's why the Sharks are my team! LOL ! So you aren't sore at all, huh? Mine weren't too bad last leg workout so we'll see how this one goes.

Hope your "salad" plan worked - at least a huge salad to start will help. More cardio if need be to compensate works well too! Just ask Laura ! ;)

Laura - so sorry y'day ended up so horrible. It was good for you to vent - I had an employee (male) call me to vent and he actually was in tears. By the end he was feeling better just by getting it off his chest. Now we see if there is any action taken for either of you in the coming days, huh? Send me a little sun for the day, will ya? Ours is trying to peek through, but it may only make it to 60 if that. Have fun at the auction and do buy anything I wouldn't, Ha ! I love paintings so it is a safe bet for you !

Off to get something accomplished . . . may check in later.

Oh man....what a loooong and boring day! It probably wouldn't have been so long if I was in the mood to talk to someone! But I just wanted to do my own thing and be lazy:eek: I probably ate to many cookies today....not sure how many:rolleyes: I just picked at them so I didn't actually eat a full cookie! But I tell myself that I am starting STS tomorrow so I will be a good girl then:eek:

Jacque** For some reason I thought you ran marathons? See my memory isn't as good as yours!:p Maybe its your profile pic throwing me for a loop;) I would love for you to forward that eating plan, even as a guideline of what I should be doing. My email address is [email protected]
I don't know much about BFFM. Is it restrictive or time consuming? The best program I ever followed was BFL cause I just ate from certain food groups. I could follow that again I suppose. Im just thinking about eating healthy, barely any sweets ( I won't say none b/c that will make me worse) not as many CABS:( and limiting my carbs after a certain hour. Also, every 2nd day I will have an opportunity to make my runs alittle longer.

Diana** Try to be a good girl tonight;) We had pizza and wings last night. The pizza isn't what gets me, its the garlic fingers! Yum! And not just any garlic fingers....the ones from the local pizza place! Im not sure how many of those I ate.
Im trying to remember how long my training program was for my last race, I think it was 12 weeks. I printed off a training program a while ago but Im not sure if I kept it. I will have to switch around the long run days b/c of shift work. Its also easier to do the long runs when DH is home b/c he can take DS. But I am not going to worry about that until I actually sign up something.

Laura** I bet one of my co-workers thinks I am going to be a PIA real soon! For some reason she thinks we are all equal but she doesn't get the fact that I am not giving up anymore hours. She wanted us to work 1 week each and then go on unemployment for 3 weeks...she can take her idea and shove it. She probably knows that she will be the next one to go, thats why said that. Sometimes I don't know who to trust around here so I am learning to keep my mouth shut. I don't think one is any better then the other!
Im looking forward to starting those workouts tomorrow! You have had some DOMS on the G-O and you know how I love DOMS!

I will bb in the morning!

Lori:)

O.K...came back to vent:mad: I have NOT BEEN the most social person today. No particular reason, just lazy and tired...don't really care to talk:confused:

DH's friend is here for the night, so I have a quiet evening pictured for dinner. I call home to see whats on the go and EVERYONE in his family are coming for supper! I just don't get it.... He invited my SIL and BIL over for supper, then my MIL wants to know what they are doing for supper cause she wants to do something, they tell her they aren't doing much b/c they are painting, then my MIL over hears them talk about supper so they have to invite them! Then my MIL wants to bring her friend along who apparently can't eat a meal alone when her DH is gone, but she isn't coming and Nan isn't feeling well. I was sooooooooooooo hoping to go home to a peaceful house, now I have to go home and face the music to 8 adults, 1 preteen,2 kids, and 1 toddler.

WHY DOES EVERYDAY HAVE TO BE LIKE CHRISTMAS IN THIS FAMILY!
