Morning Glories.

Today will be STS Disc 2. Wish me luck! ;)

I went to bed around 10pm last night. I'm gonna be a bit sleepy today. I was busy playin with my Ipod Touch all night. I was downloading free apps. I was like a little kid. It was so cool! :p I think my first downloads will be kickboxing work outs but I need the cable that allows you to hook the ipod up to the tv or it'll be useless. I'm not going to be able to follow a k/b w/o on a 3" screen! :eek: I could just do it straight through my lap top in the mean time though! I think I need to go shopping soon!:D

LauraT:: Oh how I WISH it were 60 degrees here! Cold front movin' in today and more snow tmrw or friday! Not supposed to be more then an inch or two though. Please pray that they are right!!! :eek:

Jacque:: Step Moves is next on the agenda for me when I do another ss step workout. So many work outs so little time. I swear. Seriously! Even if all you do is Cathe! :eek:

Wendy—Good luck on STS 2! And great job on your ab work yesterday! Sorry you lost your gym membership. That’s a bummer. And sorry about the running, but I’m glad you have other outlets. Is the Absolute K/B you did Kimberly Spreen? I remember on the Cheetah thread that somebody had tons of non-Cathe videos. Was that you? I just got my first Amy Bento and my first PowerStrike vids for Christmas. Since I switched to Cathe (from the FIRM) 10 years ago, I haven’t found anything that could compete with her. But I’ll admit, I haven’t tried too much other stuff. But I’m in the market for some new workouts!

Speaking of, what is 6-week 6-pack. It’s Jillian? Is it just abs, or is it strength and cardio, too? I’d love to hear anyone’s recommendations on good videos. I love KB, and I don’t mind intricate choreography.

LauraT—Great job on your power walk. Nothing like something out of the routine to shake things up, huh? OK, I’m sure everyone else knows, but you have GOT to tell me how you ended up with a nickname like Poochy. That sure doesn’t sound like something a Cathelete would embrace! LOL. I admire you folks who can teach exercise classes. People keep telling me that I should, but I say, “no way!” There’s a big difference between just exercising versus trying to actually speak (coherently, no less) while I do it! LOL. ☺ What kind of furbabies do you have? We have 3 Great Danes who think they are children and deserve to live inside! One of them actually sleeps in our hammock!!


Diana—I don’t have P90X+, but we do have P90X, and Ab Ripper is TOUGH! I can only imagine what ARX is like! Great job. I don’t use anything except a notebook to track my calories. I did one of those internet or magazine calculations to determine my “daily calorie expenditure” a while back. From there, I used real-life experience to tell me how accurate it was. 2400 calories, I maintain. More than that, I gain. When I last needed to lose weight, 2100 calories did it for me. This time around, I was having a hard time sticking to the 2100 calories, so I decided I needed to be more drastic so that I would have to think harder about what I ate. It’s working. I’ve already lost a pound in my first week! ☺ I have one of those annoyingly high metabolisms that, when I was younger, allowed me to eat whatever I wanted. That’s no longer true (at all!), but I can still eat a lot more than many of my friends. I’m also not a small person. I’m 5’8”.

Lori— Wow to juggling 2 jobs, a DH, and 2 kids. That’s amazing! Regarding calories, I’m in awe of folks who can eat what I am eating and feel normal. Some of it I know is training your brain. I also have a higher metabolism than some (see personal to Diana). Like you, I have a DH, and I have 3 kids: ages 10, 8, and 6. (That makes it sound more evenly spaced than they actually are! They’re in 5th, 2nd, and 1st grade.) Two boys and a baby princess.

Jacque—ITA that it is often hard to gain momentum. I’ll do great for a month, then life happens. That’s part of why, as I told Diana, I finally decided I needed to get tough. I’m going to really push it in January. I generally try to take a slow, gradual, healthy approach (which is good), but when “stuff” happens, it all falls apart. Time to get drastic! ☺ And, yes, I love CTX. Power Circuit is my favorite out of them. Good luck to you, too, in making 2011 a healthy year.

Oh, yes. And my workout. Today was another walk-run. 3 ½ miles. It is so humbling to have to walk part of it. But I’m making progress. I actually changed my route a bit today to include more hills. Tomorrow will be B&G! I’m pumped for that. ☺

And the eating has been very clean! It’s 2:30 and I’ve actually only had 750 calories. I actually need to go eat something else! ☺
 
STS Disc 2 + S&H abs....DONE! :D

I omitted pull/chin ups from the work out but put in an extra set of 21 barbell rows at the end since I had time. Next time I will put barbell rows in where the pull/chin ups are. I'm just not in the mood to do them and because my door to my w/o room opens IN, using the band pull down alternative will be a PITA so to heck with it. Not forcing myself. Just doin' what feels right. ;)

Laura:: Yep it was probably me re tons of non-Cathe vids. I've always been big on variety so I gotta have my other instructors. Yes, Absolute K/B is Kim Spreen. She is a recent discovery of mine and I adore her and her work outs! :) I've tried Amy Bento...had Kickbox Extreme but couldn't get a grip on the choreo so I sold it. I still have Slo Mo Challenge and like it but I can never remember to use it. :eek: I have a Power Strike work out and the original Body Strikes work out from Ilaria. I didn't care for PS so I sold it. I like Body Strikes but haven't used it in a while. I am a big fan of Kelly Coffey Meyer and ofcourse Kim Spreen these days. :cool: Yes, 6wk/6pack is a Jillian vid. Two 30 min interval ab work outs. Good stuff! :D
 
Good Morning Ladies,

Today will be Disc 1, I'm just not sure when I can get to it. DH is sick today so he probably won't be as much help as he will probably just hang out in our room and watch tv. Also, I logged into work and got a reminder email that DH had a 7:30 appt today. He thought it was tomorrow and said I told him it was on the 6th. On top of being sick, he's pissed at me too! Everyone else is either at work or school.

Wendy-Nice w/o this morning. Nothing wrong with subbing exercises when necessary. I do have the tubing and have it used it before, more in P90X. BTW-I love AB's Kickbox Extreme. It did take a bit of rewinding to get it all down but now I'm pretty good at it. I may have to go buy my own Ipod touch after I get my bonus in February and pay off all the Christmas bills and airline tickets. DH's truck needs to go to the shop, who knows how much that will cost.

LauraR-Good job with your walk/run. I hope to give running another try once my foot heals. I was at my lowest weight when I ras running all the time. I wasn't lifting weights back then though, and now I would never give up my weights. I love to exercise, it the food piece of the equation that I struggle with. It's a constant battle to be honest. I do my best when I plan out meals and prepare my food for the week on Sundays. Since I've been home the planning/preparing has kind of gone by the wayside. I go back to work next week and will do better there. I'm a terrible chocoholic and eat chocolate chips out of the bag. I'm loosely following WW and will be back on track next week. Where do you live? Just wondering since you mentioned it was after 2pm. I'm in Colorado.

Diana:: I wouldn't mind at all using the tubing if my door were hinged to open OUT instead of IN. :( Lord knows I have every strength of P90X tubing out there and haven't used them in forever! :eek: Sorry DH is pissed at you. If he would take care of his own appointments then perhaps he would not have missed it and if he did, he'd have no one to blame but himself. :rolleyes: My DH will get mad at me for not doing something or forgetting something or not writing it down. It could be for him or just something either of us could take care of but ofcourse he ASSUMES I will do it and it's like, HELLO, I do this cr@p so that YOU don't have to and not being PERFECT, I WILL mess it up or forget things once in a while. If this is not good enough for you then take care of it yourself!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me so mad. :mad: (sorry for the vent!)
 
Hello ladies ..

crazy day here ... and RAINY .. ugh .. dreary!! NO walk at lunch .. stayed in and ate lunch here. But it was for the best b/c DAAANNNNGGGGG I am SOOOOOOOO freaking SOOOOREE!!!!!! :eek: I mean REAL bad ... I am sure the powerwalk help sign the deal on the hammies .. but I taught a mish mosh of plyometrics combined w/heavy KB exercises and plank work in between them :eek: DOMS report: HAMSTRINGS, butt, back, core, shoulders and lats ---eeerrrrr--- lets just say everything that is a muscle is DOMSing today!!!:p

Wendy - I was planning on doing STS TB tonight .. but DANG I dont think I can make this sore body move :p may have to take unofficial rest day to recover!!! the planks did kinda tweak my stupid shoulder again ..:mad: but it is raining .. so I am hoping that is what is making it achy!!!

LauraR - I AM SURE Wendy was the cheeta with THE MOST DVD's .. do you also remember her as a MASSIVE ELITE ENABLER for all things fitness?????? :p but she has good taste .. so it is all good .. !!! LOL .. Poochy - ummmmmm - OK - a LONG time ago my DH nicknamed me that - the "pooch" is a reference to my POOCHY BUTT - I have narrow hips but a POOCHY booty (although not as poochy as it used to be .. damned old age) . . at that time I had a friend we scuba dived together .. and thru our adventures on the high seas .. she become known as "Hoochie" b/c she has a big uhum "chest" .. and I was "Poochy" b/c of my booty!!!! :p:p:p and it stuck (now a lot of FRIENDS call me Poochy)!!! And my furbabies - I have two inside Dogue de Bordeaux's (French Mastiffs) - you can check them out on my profile or picture trail - the male is 135# and 9 years old - the female is about 130# and 7 years old .. they are huge BABIES ... soooooo sweet (Turner and Hooch dogs) and the smartest dogs I have ever owned .. they are getting up in age though :( .. I also have an older mix pit bull female outside .. and a young male mix sheppard/retriever (solid white) looking dog that came up as a pup .. he is beautiful .. need to get a pic of him up .. he is goofy though!! :p

Di - you and Wendy are cracking me up w/the DH drama .. LOLOL .. toooo funny .. MEN .. cant live with them .. cant shoot them ... jk!! :p;) How long are you gonna be out of work??

Jacque - yes I think these past two workouts I have kicked it up a notch .. worked out some work stress .. and holiday extra calories .. in the meantime my body is saying WTH??? LOLOLOLOL :p I have been doing hard workouts while I was off .. but guess teaching you tend to tweak it and do it w/more perfect form .. plus I think I combine several different styles of exercises in my one routine .. I am kinda sadistic like that {{ insert evil grin }} heeheehee!

OK .. soooooo today will either be a rest day to let my poor OLD SORE body recover .. or will be STS TB (glutton for punishment yes) .. have a great one!!!

LauraT:: Oh trust me, I'd LOVE to shoot my DH at times! He is quite lucky it's illegal! :p I wanted to try STS TB compound only premix before starting STS but it just didn't happen. I guess it'll hafta wait a while now. *sigh* Good luck with the DOMS. Taking advil? My obliques are still a bit sore today but not nearly as bad as they were y'day! :eek:

LauraR:: I ran last night! I was playing Wii Fit and running (in place ofcourse) is part of the game! :p I push when I play to make it worth the effort. I was sweating! :D
 
Hi Ladies,

Well I finally got to my w/o. I did Disc 1, Chest/Shoulders/Biceps. My MIL came over and brought lunch! She is the sweetest the person. She played with girls for about an hour and a half. After she left, I put the girls down for a nap and did my w/o. I also did about 3/4ths of Jillians 6pk abs workout 1.

I struggled a bit with the pushups, kind of sagging which was hurting my lower back. Ended up dropping to my knees for some of them but expect to get much stronger.

Well DH goes back to work tomorrow so I have no idea when I will get my w/o in. I will have to get it in before he or DS1 leave for work. Hopefully I can drag myself out of bed.:p

Wendy-DH made his appt and apparently "got over it" while he was out. He's been fine ever since.:) I did like Jillian's ab work, I just don't like her.

LauraR-Wow, Uganda...I've only been to Canada. Have you always lived in Africa? What's it like? Sorry, but when I think of Africa, I think of jungles and wild animals. LOL Do you work, or have kids? I have 3 sons aged 22, 20, and 14...and twin granddaughters who will be 3 on Jan 14th.

Laura-What a hoot...Hoochie and Poochy...LOL'd at your story. Sorry you are so sore, just a side effect of your hard workouts! Are things better with SIL? Do you get to see DN?
