Daily Check-in Sun 2-11

Cathlete
Good morning!

Today I have a date with Coach Sean.... can't wait. That is, if I can run after all the junk I ate yesterday. I couldn't turn down those cute little girl scouts coming out of WalMart yesterday darn it. Of course, I had to sample what I'd bought. I'm going to have to take a page out of Heather's book and try to get a handle on this. It seems like I spend half my life trying to get a handle on this!

Hope y'all are doing well this weekend.

Daily Check-in

Yesterday was a great day. I had fun with Kick, Punch, & Crunch. After 3 weeks, I am ready for a new kickboxing workout. I decided to return to Cardio Kicks this week. It appears that 3 weeks is my limit for a rotation. I did the Kickbox planks and abs yesterday to wrap up my workout.

I had a hair appointment yesterday afternoon. My hairstylist told me that she is impressed by how healthy my hair is now. I credit clean eating and exercise. It is down to my shoulders, and I have never been able to wear it this long. It is very full and healthy looking.

I have not consumed any meat (including chicken) since New Year’s Eve. I was craving chili, and my first attempt at meatless chili was a success. It was incredibly tasty and satisfying. The Spice Hunter chili powder blend is yummy. It contains chile pepper, onion, garlic, cocoa powder, oregano, cayenne, cumin, cinnamon, and cloves. I bought it because it is the only brand I could find that is free of salt, MSG, and other additives. I am very impressed with the flavor.

I bounced on my rebounder last night.

I need to go to the grocery store after church because I did not get around to that yesterday. I want to fix a pot of chili beans too because they will be a good alternative topping for my baked potatoes instead of cottage cheese all the time. I bought some whole wheat tortillas, and I can make burritos with them too.

Jane, I would tell you to freeze the cookies, but the thin mints actually taste great that way. You can do this. How was the visit with your son?

Tammy, I confess that I added a tiny portion of Cabot extra sharp white cheddar cheese to my chili beans yesterday. How did that stuff jump into my shopping basket?!

Conni, what is your favorite Cathe total body weight workout?

Kim, welcome to the check-in! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Daily Check-in

Good Morning Fit Chicks!

BodyMax for me today!

Jane: Have fun with Coach Sean today:7

Heather: You are going to have to share some of your healthy recipes with us....please? LOL....how DID that Cabot cheese jump into your shopping basket? My hubby handles dairy and frozen foods for a major grocery chain in our area and the Cabot guys routinely drop off bags of cheddar cheese and dips here. I make sure to share it with friends and family pronto!

Kim: Welcome!!!! The February rotation is a tough one!

Hi Conni, Tig, Becky and Annette.

Daily Check-in

Tammy, I am a simple girl. My recipe creations are made with simple ingredients and take only minutes to prepare. Here is the recipe for chili beans:

1 c. organic pinto beans or organic kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
2 Tbsp. organic tomato paste (no salt or sugar)
¼ c. water
1 Tbsp. Spice Hunter chili powder blend (no salt or MSG)
sea salt to taste
black pepper to taste

Add ingredients to a saucepan and stir. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 10 minutes. Enjoy! :9 The Spice Hunter chili powder is available online at spicehunter.com if you cannot find it in local stores. Good chili powder is the key!

This recipe is for a single serving for me because I eat 1-2 cups of beans a day. You can eat it in a bowl with whole wheat crackers, pour it over brown rice, use it as a topping for a baked potato, or make burritos by filling whole wheat tortillas. This amount would easily fill 2 large tortillas or 4 small tortillas. When I make whole wheat burritos with it, I will most likely split the recipe in half because my stomach is not that big! This is a very filling meal that kept me satisfied for hours. It was a nice treat for a winter day too. You can add cheddar cheese for a treat, but it is tasty enough to eat alone. By the way, I live in Texas and like it hot. Most people use a tablespoon of chili powder for a whole family. I use a tablespoon for every individual serving!

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Daily Check-in

Good morning all.

BM for me today too. I'm just finishing my coffee first. I considered doing BM2 instead as I like that better, but I know I need to keep the body guessing so I stick to BM.

Hi Kim - welcome to our checkin!

RE: Daily Check-in

Welcome Kim!! I didn't read last night's thread before I posted this morning. I'm on day #5 of the rotation today. I believe we are all in different parts of the rotation so just jump on in where ever you are.

Heather- you do have such yummy recipes! You are doing so incredibly well. Oh yes, the thin mints in the freezer, DH got those and he'd freak if I ate all of them so that is keeping me in check. It is those darn shortbreads (my favorite) that are plaguing me. Yes, I can do this. How about we keep each other accountable? I'd sure hate to tell you I ate a whole box of GS cookies.... I sort of have a sugar hangover today, so today shouldn't be bad.... it seems to hit me about every four days or so....

Phyllis - I like BM2 better than 1 also but I'm sticking to the rotation like you are.

Hey Tammy!

RE: Daily Check-in

Good Morning.

Rest day for me today. I'm going out for a BAD breakfast with DH in a few minutes. DS spent the night at his granny's house so we are taking the opportunity to indulge a bit. I even slept until 8:30 this morning! That NEVER happens!!!!}( }( }(

I begin week 6 of the X tomorrow. I can't beieve I am almost 1/2 way through it already!:+

Have a nice day!:)

RE: Daily Check-in

BM is complete. I changed up. Tomorrow is actually supposed to be BM, but I don't have that kind of time during the week. Tomorrw is supposed to be an interval run, but instead I will do SS. I need to keep up the upper body tone. Later on in the week when the rotation calls for CF in its entirety, I may do a premix instead.

Wendy, I slept until 9 this morn. It must have to do with the cold weather!

RE: Daily Check-in

Happy Sunday everyone,

Sorry I am late, got busy after church making blueberry muffins. Okay, at least I used Splenda and whole wheat flour, so give me a little credit here...}(

Today was B & G. Who else besides me absolutely can't stand those one legged squats? I never get the right position until the 4th rep or so.

Heather - Favorite all weight workout for Cathe?? Probably MM. I do prefer the endurance workouts over the strength, so I don't even have the PS series, but I think the HCs make up for it. Which one is your fav???

Daily Check-in

Jane, we will keep each other accountable. I would hate to have to confess that I ate a whole brick of Cabot extra sharp white cheddar cheese! ;)

Tammy, if you want an alternative treat to enjoy instead of Odwalla Bars, I discovered something new today. Luna Tea Cakes. I was hungry after church and picked up one at Drug Emporium while running errands. It contains no soy either, which is a plus for me. I tried the orange blossom which contains white tea and antioxidants that are supposed to be good for your skin. Most of the ingredients are organic, and it is only has 1.5 grams of fat and 130 calories. Not bad for dessert! It is way better than regular Luna Bars and Clif Bars, and I personally think it tastes better than Odwalla Bars too. :9

Conni, Supersets is my favorite! :7 I love weight work on the ball, and that is the only weight workout that is pure fun for me. I love the music too. Next would be a tie between Muscle Endurance and Muscle Max. I prefer circuit training. I have a short attention span, and it is hard for me to focus on weight training for a whole hour! I bought Supersets during the VHS sale. I need to upgrade the Body Blast Series to DVD this year. I think I would enjoy the Step Blast premixes more than the workout as produced, and I could use the tougher premixes for Supersets and Push Pull.

Wendy and Phyllis, good job! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Daily Check-in

:) :) Heather.... you stay away from that cheese and I'll stay away from the girl scout cookies, honey roasted peanuts, tortilla chips... lordy I have a VERY unfriendly kitchen right now. DH did finish off the chips last night (okay, I ate some toox( ) so they are gone. I'm determined not to have to tell you I have shortbread crumbs all over my face and shirt!!

RE: Daily Check-in

Oh my, oh my.... Cardio Coach #6 with Coach Sean.....sprint heaven!

Tammy, I think this is my new favorite or at least tied with #3.

Off to stretch with Cathe.... not particularly fond of the CC stretches.

RE: Daily Check-in

Heather: Thanks for the Luna Tea Cakes tip...I'll have my hubby look for them for me.

Jane: I *HEART* all of of CC's as you know...my favorites right now (in order) are:

1. Press Play: the first challenge is killer}(

2. Volume 6 (Candace)

3. Volume 3

Oh...and clean up your crumbs girl!:7

RE: Daily Check-in

Tammy - I'll have to break down and get that Press Play.. I just know it. I'm trying to save my pennies because I have a feeling Cathe is going to be doing something soon... maybe not filming right away but at least announcing a presale which, of course, I'll dive right into on the first day.

I'll have to try Candace next time I do CC. The run for next week is steady state and we've already discussed how tough it is to do SS when you have Coach Sean but I may just put on my music and keep it steady. There is A LOT of interval work in this rotation with all the circuits and I probably need to tone it down when Cathe says to tone it down.

No crumbs (hear that Heather!!?), no crumbs on this face today. I did very well. Lent is not far away and I may tie that into what I am trying to accomplish eating-wise.

RE: Daily Check-in

Thanks for the warm welcome. It's been quite a day. Got up at 6:30 to get ds(9) to his hockey game. During today's game our team's coach and two of our parents got thrown out of the arena for yelling at the refs and at last night's game a player on the other team got suspended for three games for taking his stick after the whistle and hitting another kid on the head! Goodness, I've had enough of drama/sports this weekend.

I did the 45 minute interval run on the treadmill this afternoon. Man, did that feel hard. I'm sorry I'm not going to respond to everyone I have a terrible head cold and that run, along with not enough sleep last night has just drained me.
Thanks for letting me join in. Kim

RE: Daily Check-in
