Daily Check-in for Saturday, July 1, 2006

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Thank you for all the love and support. The encouragement I received blessed me to tears yesterday.

After much prayer, I decided to start Scale Down by Danna Demetre. I bought the book and workbook yesterday and ordered the CDs for the 8-week journey as well as the Healthy Self-Talk CD. Danna is a Christian lifestyle coach. She is a registered nurse who has battled and conquered binge eating and emotional eating. Scale Down is an 8-week journey that deals with emotional eating, body image, and finding balance in every area of life. That is something I desperately need. I have renewed hope now! Danna addresses fitness and nutrition too, but I really like that she focuses on the spiritual and emotional as well. It is not a diet or an exercise program. It is a lifestyle transformation from the inside out. The CDs are scheduled for delivery on Monday, and I am excited about this new journey.

Have a happy, blessed, and safe 4th of July weekend! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.

Hello everyone!

Heather, I am rooting for you and sometimes we just need a new way of thinking or some inspiration to really get out of a funk. Good luck with your new program.

Tammy, that sounds like quite a workout. I will have to give power circuit a try again.

Kali, I always enjoy cardio and weights. It is a fun workout.

My little guinea pig seems to be thriving now, thank goodness.

I am doing Imax 3 today and PUB chest.

Have a great day ladies!

Susan

Good morning all.

Susan, I'm glad to hear your guinea pig continues to improve. I have a friend who had 2 and was amazed at how much personality they have.

Kali, have fun figuring what to do next. I never have made it through a rotation and think just winging it works best for me.

Tammy, sounds like you are preparing to go to a clam bake or something.

Heather, best wishes on your new plan. I think you've already made amazing lifestyle transformations and will be suprised at how much of what you read you already know.

I plan on doing the Gym Style Shoulders segment today, along with Powerstrike 1. My DH is away with some of his buds today, so DD and I have a girls night out planned with dinner and a movie. Have a great day.

Hi girls.

Kali-Funny girl funny girl!:p :7

I ran 2 miles and then did my 40 min Itrain Elliptical work out today.

Off to a bbq in a couple of hours for more bad eating...

Have a great day everyone!:)

Well my knee was bothering me so I opted for 30 min. on my air walker. I had put that thing away years ago but am so glad I didn't toss it since I can use it now to work my legs w/out impact! One time I am sure glad I'm a pack rat! So I did the abs from C&W.

Have fun tonight Robin. DH and I are spending as much time as we can together before he leaves in 2 weeks. Maybe you can come up and hang out by the pool with me sometime!

Enjoy your BBQ Wendy! You'll work off whatever you eat Wendy, live it up!

Glad your guniea pig is ok Susan. Have fun with Imax3! I think I'm done with Imaxes for the time being with my knee bothering me. DARN!:7 LOL!

Have a good afternoon ladies.

Kali

Hi all -
It's a glorious day in sunny CT and I am just loving the sunshine.

This morning was Legs & Glutes - that is my favorite lower body workout. I always feel totally energized, and wiped, at the end. That was followed by two hours of mulch spreading so I think I did pretty good today.

Robin - enjoy girls' night out! We're doing the opposite, DD is going to a sleepover, so DH and I are having a romantic evening. ;-)

Heather - best of luck with the new program! Sometimes you do need a lifestyle approach, but I also agree with Robin. From what I've read in the past few months, you've already accomplished so much. I know you'll succeed, no matter what!

Susan - glad to hear your little guinea pig is doing better!

Wendy - enjoy the BBQ. You can always work it off tomorrow.

Kali - rotations still have me stumped. I envy you being able to stick to one all the way through.

Enjoy the sunshine!!!!

hello all - rest day for me. I'll resume the BBW rotation tomorrow - just a few more days. I'm undecided what I'll do in July - probably just wing it as I have vacation coming up. I think it'll be nice to get away from rotations for awhile. Cathe's July rotation is not interesting to me right now. Have a good day. Phyllis

Daily Check-in

I am checking in between social activities. I am having a great day. I have been praying for a workout buddy, and God provided one. My friend Rebecca and I met this morning and took a new set of “before” pictures. Both of us have lost a significant chunk of weight and recently regained some. Both of us are the same height and size. The difference is that she had gastric bypass surgery a year and a half ago. We are going to work through the Scale Down book together. As I am skimming through it, I agree with Robin that it is nothing new to me. I was compelled to buy it, and I believe it is for Rebecca’s benefit as much as mine. She is realizing that she needs to make lifestyle changes that the surgery did not address.

I returned to the club this morning for the first time in months. I was doing my friend Gretchen’s cardio boot camp class there twice a week, but I dropped out in March. It was way too intense for me. I was anaerobic the whole time, and my joints were killing me even on the suspended wood aerobics floor. The club has a wonderful saltwater pool that I want to start jogging in again. I have been a little self-conscious about returning to the club after gaining weight. Not to mention, I did not want to hurt Gretchen’s feelings by being there and not doing her class. She was sad when I dropped out of class for a season last year. Rebecca and I jogged in the pool this morning, and I had an opportunity to visit with some friends and talk to Gretchen before I left. I explained that I need to start gradually and work my way up to her advanced class. She was supportive as always and agreed with me. Two of the regulars told me that class is much harder than it was a few months ago. Gretchen takes it to the next level every few months, and there is no way I could handle it now. To give you an example, she does lots of jumping jacks holding a 12-pound Body Bar overhead. Standard jumping jacks slay me with no weight! Think of the terminators in Cathe’s Boot Camp. That is how intense Gretchen’s class is the whole time. Running sprints is what she calls recovery! The regulars are in such amazing shape that her class is just a challenge for them. For me with the extra weight I am still hauling around, the intensity is way over the top. I hope to return to her class someday, but I need to work my way up to that level gently and gradually. When I joined this forum in March, Cathe encouraged me to step away from the ultra advanced workouts until my body acclimates. That is some of the best advice I have received.

By the way, Gretchen told me that I look really good. I was wearing a cute pair of capris and a top with my colors. I have learned to dress in a way that makes the most of my beauty and assets at any size! I also forgot to share that I visited my doctor this week about my food allergies. I was delighted to discover that my blood pressure is excellent now as it was borderline high in the past. I am bigger and weigh more, but I honestly do not look that much different in the pictures Rebecca took this morning. The scale does not tell the whole story.

My friend Rebecca watched Cathe’s Boot Camp one night when she was visiting me. She bonded with Cathe immediately. Rebecca told me this morning that she had some spending money and asked me to meet her at Target this afternoon to help her find some workouts. You can guess what I picked out for her! ;-) I told her about this place and hope she will join and start checking in with us.

I need to get ready for a cookout, and I promised to meet Rebecca later tonight for a movie. Have fun! :)

Blessings,
Heather B.
