Happy Groundhogs day!

I have been MIA much of this week so figured the least I could do is start the post today.

Hope all is well it's KM for me today. Looking forward to seeing all your posts!

Mariangeles looks like you have not been around either. Hope all is well.

Anette - You seem to be doing very well. That's great. Be gentle on yourself.

Carole - you are always so inspiring.

Tammy - always great to hear from you.

Shannon - hope everyone is feeling better.

Sandra - no prob - it does get confusing who is who ;)

Shelly - nice to see you on this check-in

Dutchie - that trip sounds awesome. My DD is loving Rouen. This month she is going to Venice, Barcellona, Rome, and London!

For those of you who wondered about coffee. We had a really nice time on Monday, ending out meeting for drink and talked for 3 hrs. Conversation flowed freely. He's a really nice guy in person too. Refreshing view on things. I'd love to have drinks/dinner again but not sure if we will. I dropped him an email, as we already corresponded a lot in email and would be wait for him to reply. He isn't on email much. Nice I've heard a lot from my friend 1/2 way around the world. With IM and email, it doesn't seem far at all.

Had the interview yesterday, I wasn't a fit but they really like me and want to keep me in mind for other openings. Things work out for a reason.

Well time to get ready.

Hi Robyn! Is it really Groundhogs day today??

Good morning everyone!

MM is already done. I was up at 4am so I decided just to get it over with. Still will ride my bike for cardio.

If there are any Survivor fans left out there....it starts tonight with Exile Island!!}(

Good morning Robyn and Becky...

Muscle Max is on tap for today and even though I woke up at 4:15 (on my day offx( ), I'm not as smart as Becky to get it over with!!! I'll get it done this afternoon. Have lots of errands to do this morning and a meeting at 11 with my retirement/financial counselor, so I need to get in the shower and get started on my day. This is my regular yearly meeting to make sure I'm on track with my retirement savings so I can retire before I'm 90!!

Now tomorrow when I do back to work, I'll want to sleep in the morning!!! Off today because its a comp day for Saturday. I have to work this weekend.

Have a good one!

Good morning all!

Well, last night was MIC. Sometimes during the hi/lo I feel like I'm gonna have a seizure:p But I made it through. I also did chest work - dumbbell bench press, flies and incline flies, to add to the push-ups I did in the a.m. yesterday.

Today is a 4 mile run, shoulders (which I've already done) and core work.

I hope the little guy doesn't see his shadow and spring comes soon. Not that we've had a terrible winter, but it's been a bit dreary.

Becky - you did MM at 4 a.m.? I think I'd end up dropping a barbell on my foot if I tried that! Way to go:)

Robyn - thanks for the welcome:)

Good Morning.

Well, HSC is on the schedule today but I don't have it. I don't have ANY of the high step work outs yet. I'm just going to sift through my circuit possibilities and pick one. I know BC is probably the closest match but I just did that at the beginning of the week....

Have a great Thursday!:)

Good morning all -
Well, I started this post, then clicked to go back and check something else and lost what I'd typed. Sigh. Here we go again.

Today I'll do Legs and Glutes. I like the little cardio burst it gives to wake me up - an added benefit to the weights. I wish I had time for cardio today too. But I will also do some abs. Don't know what yet.

Today is also a work-at-home day. Yipee! I have a load of laundry going and the crockpot is going. It's raining, which means I don't have to drive in it to get to work. What a nice bonus.

Everyone have fun today. Even though I'm a winter fan, I think maybe it is time for spring. Down here, with all these clouds, there's no way a groundhog could see its shadow. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Morning ladies. I decided to take a rest day today since I have pretty bad DOMS from SJP and KPC. I figured I'd let my muscles rest today and workout on Sunday instead (my scheduled rest day).

Hope everyone has a great day.

Katie

Hello to all that follow...have a great day!

Good morning everyone!

Today is my dd's 10th birthday. I can't believe it's been ten years already since I became a mom.

Today is supposed to be Stretch X since I'm in a recovery week, but since I know we'll be going out to dinner later, I think I might squeeze in some cardio too.

Sandra, no problem about the mixup. :) Yesterday was KenpoX.

Robyn, sounds like you had a great time, and it sounds like your daughter is having a great time too! How's your son?

Shannon that happens to me all the time. I'll start to post get distracted, come back later and everything I've typed is gone. Happened at least 3 times last week. BTW what are you making? (I'm always looking for new dinner ideas.)

Katie, hope your soreness eases soon.

Becky and Jane, I love MM. It really makes my inner thighs sore -- in a good way :).

Carole, I went to the running store yesterday, and they fitted me for a pair of running shoes. What a difference shopping there for shoes as opposed to Sports Authority. The owner is an avid runner, and he had me roll up my cuffs, and walk around without shoes so he could assess my pronation. He then began selecting shoes for me to try on which would be good for me feet. I think we have a winner! I'm starting on Monday. (Unless I get too excited and try it today as my extra cardio.) Since I'm switching to doubles, the run/walk will be my extra cardio instead of Cardio X. Thanks for all your advice.

Shelley, enjoy your run and I hope the weather's not dreary today.

Have a great day everyone!

Pamela...hope your DD has a great Birthday!!! You are welcome. I am so happy you made it to the running store. Sounds like he steered you in the right direction...:)...Carole

Carole and Tammy,

I considered SJP but I am also going to look at the premixed circuits to see if there is something I've never done before...I'm sure there is. Something different might be fun!}(

ETA: I just looked again and realized that I ALSO have to find/do a sub for the hi/lo in MIC! YIKES, I didn't see that before! :p

Good thinkin' Carole! I forget about the hi/lo in ctx. I only rememeber SJP's hi/lo. I guess I can string those 2 together and I'll have what I need! Thanks! :)

Hi everyone,

I've been so busy at work, this is my first "break" (and it's now 4:11pm). Still have loads to do so here's a quick post.

I did cardio coach #3 yesterday evening plus PLB legs.

This morning I did Boot Camp, all but core premix, plus LM-blasts only. Men my legs were tired.... I could still feel yesterday's w/o in my legs!

Will do abs tonight, and go to bed early.

Good morning,

I've finished the SH series. Love those workouts! I did SH biceps, legs, triceps & abs yesterday, and shoulders this morning. Tonight I will be doing Low Impact Step, Coremax #1, and, if there's time, StretchMax #1.

Robyn - I've got my fingers crossed for you that he'll reply to your email.

Shelley - I find the hi/lo in MIC seems to get a little frantic in the middle. The bpm is just so fast. Good for you for getting through it.

Wendy - I love HSC. Not sure what to recommend as a substitute, unless you have HardCore Extreme (the first workout) :)

Shannon - you sound like you're having a very cozy day. What's in the crockpot?

Katie - enjoy your rest day!

Carole - IMAX3 is the hardest of the three for me, too. Can you imagine what an IMAX4 would be like?!

Tammy - great workout planned! We're all on the mend, thank you for thinking of us.

Pamela - happy birthday to your daughter! 10 is an important birthday, isn't it?

Dutchie - Wow!!! That was quite a workout!

Have a good day!
Sandra

Pamela and Sandra -
Barley is in the crockpot. Thought I'd give it a try. But darn it, it's already DONE. I can't believe it - it's 10 a.m. here. So now I have to stick it in the fridge until I'm ready to cook dinner.

I rarely try barley, so I'm not sure what I'll do with it. Possibly add kidney beans? I don't know. Just trying to get whole grains into the diet. Any suggestions?

Ever had Curried Barley and Shrimp Salad? It's a recipe I got from the May 05 issue of Prevention magazine. It had several "wholesome grain" recipes. Since your barley's already cooked, you will probably need to modify the recipe if you're interested. I've prepared it and found it to be delicious, but since I'm trying to lose weight, I used olive oil, and I reduced it from 3 tbsp to 1 tbsp.

I couldn't find a link to the recipe so I'll copy it here for you.

Excerpted from Prevention Magazine, May 2005

Curried Barley and Shrimp Salad
1 tsp curry powder
½ tsp tumeric
1 c barley
1 lb frozen peeled and deveined sm cooked shrimp, thawed and drained
11/2 c seeded and diced tomatoes
½ c chopped green pepper
½ c chopped peeled cucumber
5 Tbsp fresh lime juice
3 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp seeded, finely chopped jalapeño chile pepper (wear plastic gloves when handling)
1 clove garlic, minced
¼ tsp salt
Romaine lettuce leaves
¼ c chopped fresh basil or cilantro
1 lime, quartered (garnish)

1. Combine curry, tumeric, and 3 cups of water in large saucepan and heat to a boil. Stir in barley. Cover and cook over low heat until water is absorbed and barley is tender, about 45 minutes. Transfer to colander. Rinse with cold water and drain well.
2. In large bowl, combine barley, shrimp, tomatoes, bell pepper, and cucumber. In small bowl, whisk juice, oil, chile pepper (to taste), garlic, and salt until blended. Pour over barley mixture and toss.
3. Spoon barley salad on top of lettuce and sprinkle with basil. Garnish with lime.

Makes 6 servings
Per serving 287 cal, 20g pro, 33g carb, 9g fat, 2g sat fat, 115 mg chol, 7g fiber, 263 mg sodium

Enjoy!
