Daily Calories

I have a question, or really just need a boost of confidence about eating enough calories. I am trying to stay in recovery from an eating disorder and I have noticed I am low in calories again, some days not reaching 1200. I excercise daily. I have noticed that I do not feel as in shape as I should. Is this due to my low caloried intake? I am wondering if my body thinks it is starving, even though I am not feeling hungry, and that makes my body change. And the on days like this I seem to reach for more junk. Any advice is welcome.

nourish your muscles!!!

If you're working out daily...you need to make sure that you're getting enough quality calories. Feeling sluggish and reaching for junk is a sure sign that you need to change things up. Congrats on working through an eating disorder, that can be a difficult battle that can last years...but just realizing you need to work towards a change is a huge first step. I would encourage you to check in with a registered dietician or nutritionist in your area, even a session or two can make a huge difference. I've had a similar battle and it was time well spend with my RD as she helped me realize that by given my body what it needs (and forgetting the junk) could help me achieve my goals.
Take care of your body...it's the only one you've got :)

Roselyn,

I had been with SP for over a year...I was exercising every day and nothing was coming off...I had been tracking my food...everything. I signed up with Cathe a couple weeks ago..the nutrition site upped my calories from sp...SP had me eat 1500-1800 calories...Cathe has me eating 1722 to 2200 and have lost 2 pounds....my hardest part is getting enough food...or fuel...and one of the GREAT things I've noticed is I'm not so tired....I still get on the scale almost every day cuz I'm nervous...but really...not enough calories is probably worse than over doing it to some extent.

I try to think of calories as fuel. Just like we go to the gas station to fill up our cars and they get some many miles a gallon. OUr body kind of works the same way...If you don't fuel up your body, you body is going to let you...your going to be tired..and sometimes your resistance will get low and you'll get sick...If you let your car run out of gas...it will spit and sputter and you'll find your sefl sitting on the sidelines too!

I find that if I make it a game and follow the guidelines on Cathe's site...I do really well. Sp too.

I would guess you aren't eating enough and you're body is protesting.
It sounds like you have a terrific mindset toward recovery and are being self-aware. Congratulations on continuing to take care of yourself!
